Rheumatiod Factor | Arthritis Information

So I just got off the phone with my Dr.'s office and the nurse confirmed that I definetly have RA, however I asked her to tell me the level that the factor was and she said 26.6.  I asked her what Normal was and she said the highest is 13.9.  I do not understand, as I googled this and it seems that that is not high.  Could it be dependent on the lab that does the testing what the "normal" levels are?

I am not sure why I am reading into this, as I have the symtoms and the family history (my dad).  I jsut want to understand what all of this means.

Mine was not that high either when I started seeing my new RD, but I was swelled to the max, and body parts not working right and all the stuff RA does to you when it is out of control.

I think it is a few other tests that help determin it as well and not just RA Factor.

I will go get my bloodwork and see what mine was.
lab ranges do differ from lab to lab.  but for diagnosis purposes a positive is a positivejoonie, the rheumatoid factor does not generally show positive in jraYeah.... I've misplaced my paper work anyways. Either way looks like I am no help, but Buckeye is!My factor came back as  428.6 yes I said four hundred twenty eight point six,  WOW!  428.6.  Not only was my factor 26.6 - but the other, more specific test, tested normal.  I don't know what to think.there are 2 different ways to preform the test...so to compare you have to know which test was preformed and what the range is..see if this gives you a clue, all I know is the dr said it was hight

Mine was 657.......just saw the rheumatologist for the first time today.  I have seen someone post in here with RF in the 900s.  A study was posted using patients with RFs of 2,000.  Yikes.  I was 150 at dx and normal again 2 months ago.  Hi Kathy, it was me, I was at 972 when I was finally diagnosed after 14 years of symptoms!  Am now in clinical remission with all normal labs, no inflammation, some pain from those 14 years of damage and then another 10 years to achieve clinical remission.   Lindyat 1:160 does that mean my rf is 160, my rd wouldn't tell me?mine was 129
