Comments: I've had RA in every joint, muscle since 3/83. The first 5 mo, I could not even turn the dial on the TV (before remote in the bedroom) and hardly get to the bathroom. Thank heavens "gold" kicked in and I did go back to work which no one thought I would. My husband left me in 1990 saying he couldn't see himself pushing a wheelchair some day. But, of course, that was just an excuse--he remarried shortly after and, guess what? God is getting him every day! When God closes one door, he opens another; I have been lots better healthwise and am very grateful. I was able to retire from Civil Service with 27 years 3 Jan 01, turned 65 in Feb 01 and am on medicare and getting SS even though it is a pittance(they take $1 for every $2 I draw in CS pension), it does cover my medicines (thank heavens I still have my gov't BC/BS). I have been busier than ever going and doing "things" I was not able to do when I had to work. It was all I could do sometimes to get in 40 hours! a week.
