Virginia's Hip Replacement

Last summer (1999) I had a lot of back pain, sometimes it would affect my right leg, sometimes my left leg, so when the pain in my left leg didn't go away, it was a pressed nerve in my back according to the MRI. Finally in DEC I asked my Rheumatologist to check my hip, when she looked at the x-ray, she immediately gave me a cortisone shot in the hip and scheduled surgery for DEC. 21 . I told everyone I got the best gift for Christmas- a new hip and I was amazed that I had lived with so much pain. The hip bone was completely crushed and there was no blood supply to the area. I am so much better now and would advise anyone needing joint replacement -- don't wait you can loose muscle by favoring the hurting area.
