Introduction

Alternative Medicine II

I am just a little upset by the response to this week's survey. One of the most often heard complaints about Arthritis Insight is that our Alternative Medicine section is lacking or biased. Yet only 7 of you responded to our survey and none of you responded to our request to send in your alternative medicine story. This is a team effort, without your participation we cannot function. We'll do our best to get through this week's discussion without your help but would appreciate your participation in the future.

Of those that did respond, 5 use alternative therapy under their doctor's supervision and the other two do not discuss alternatives with their physicians. We believe that alternative and traditional medication can work very well in combination and that your physician should be aware of all types of treatments you are using. If your physician is not open minded enough to accept the use of alternatives, it might be a good idea to search for another doctor.

This week we will look into some herbal therapies, homeopathy and more. Check back every day for something new.
