Home In this
discussion: Victoria?s Not So Secrets Victoria Changes Chat I am aware that some
of you are dying to know what happened after last week?s article.
Well, you are going to have to wait your pretty little rear-ends
until next week. Today I want to write
about friendship. This
subject may be beyond the scope of my article writing subject matter for
this website, but I am sure no one will mind.
In my life, I have really learned who my friends are.
Throughout the years I have become an expert of sorting the
friendly wheat from the chaff. Except today, someone
who I thought was a friend behaved in such a way which friends
shouldn?t behave. I
believe she caused me and someone else in my life a lot of unnecessary
grief. I won?t go into the
details of the event but when someone stabs me in the back like I was
today, it not only screws me up emotionally but physically as well. When
I began feeling my stress manifest itself physically, I ?borrowed? a
friend?s 600mg Motrin (I don?t take any meds during the middle of
the day) and swigged two with a Diet Pepsi chaser. I was extraordinarily tired; sick-tired is more of the
perfect way of describing how I felt.
I didn?t eat correctly: I
had a bagel with butter on it (after an early morning breakfast of
peanut butter on toast that I ate pre-screwing by my ?friend?), then
French fries (biggie size) from Burger King, then 2 Twix bars, then a
package (king sized mind you) of Spree candies (tart and yummy), and
currently a damned good Italian beer.
Despite the fact that I was tired, I had an enormous amount of
pent of anguish that turned into some funky sort of energy.
I called a friend asking if he wanted to go hit golf balls with
me, or perhaps he had a punching bag I could borrow. Instead of hitting
golf balls (which most likely wouldn?t have been a great idea, knowing
me I?d pull something), I went to the grocery store after work.
I bought ingredients to make pasta sauce, some angel hair pasta
and ravioli, which I have been on a kick to consume. As I was checking out
at the register something happened. A man who was in
front of me was buying a pair of sunglasses.
Nothing else. He was
dressed as if he might have been living a hard life (terrible
generalization, I know.) The sunglasses came to $9.89.
He handed the cashier a ten-dollar bill. The cashier said to the man ?Do you have a Safeway Savings
Card? These sunglasses are
on sale and you will save almost $4.00 if you have a card?. He said in broken English ?No, no.? I piped up (I?m not one to be shy), ?Here use my card and
give him the discount?. The
cashier eyed me and said (as if I was being cross examined on the
stand), ?Is this gentleman with you?
Do you know him?? Simultaneously
we answered: I said, ?Yes?, he said ?No.?
I said, ?Yeah, we know each other.
We just met.? All
the while he was saying, ?No, I don?t know her?.
I said ?HE KNOWS ME GIVE HIM THE DISCOUNT WITH MY CARD
PLEASE.? Cashier Connie
snapped my card out of my hand, swiped it, and returned his change;
almost $4.00. The gentleman walked
away, oblivious as to what happened.
I walked away knowing that I did something good today.
This random act of kindness made me feel good.
The day didn?t turn out to be all that bad after all. Have a Relationships, Dating
