Big hug right back at you Waddie I did 4 miles on the treadmill and 3 on the bike today, so I'm feeling pretty sassy!
It helps that the sun is shining and that the weather is supposed to be great through the weekend. I'll finally be able to finish up with the annual leaf raking....

Thanks all of you for the encouraging words. I actually feel better today, I guess piggybacking oral antibiotics was the answer (see me knocking on wood) and good old Nyquil. I managed to get out and had a wonderful lunch, a big Reuben sandwich with extra thousand island and homemade coleslaw. Also went to the frame shop and bought frames for several of my Audobon (sp) prints that I've been anxious to frame and even went to the farm stand to see if they had any late tomatos. No tomatos, not even green ones. Sort of had a hankering for some fried green tomatos......bet you can't guess that my Pred. is increased!!!!!!!
I've been watching CNN about the shooting at Ft. Hood and am stunned. The main shooter was a psychiatrist and a Major......a crazy, crazy scenario.
Hope that all of you have a warm and relaxing evening.
Shug, you GO girl and enjoy every darn bite of that protein. We use only grass fed beef and the difference is remarkable. That man of yours only wants to please. I have one of those and he makes life so much easier. Lindy

Lindy, I am so glad you are 'on the mend'. If there was a way to do it I could send you a basket of tomatoes: green and ripe and an assortment of chilies so you could make green tomato salsa as well as frying some of them.
It has been so much fun to give in to the prednisone cravings rather than trying to ignore them or overcome them.
After my doctor's appointment yesterday corticosteroids and pain meds (via the pump, backed up by pills) are my only meds. With another decrease in heart and pulmonary function it is obvious that no amount of treatment is going to get either inflammation or the result of inflammation under control, so why challenge my already challenged liver.
However, the Sun is up, the air is crisp, and on our walk this morning we were accompanied by a roadrunner who protested our intrusion into her morning chores.

Morning Everyone, I just realized that I spelled tomatoes wrong through out my last post..... Can I blame it on Pred?
Thanks Shug, I'm tasting the salsa as I type. We're really missing the food of Mexico about now. I think I'm going to start some Mexican style cooking this week, now that I feel better. Being in the middle of Nevada sort of limits my fresh seafood purchasing. I feel a trip to Reno and Whole Foods coming on. Thanks for whetting my appetite even more.
I've decided even though I feel better to lay low and be quiet today, rest as required, read, and finish up some deocrating projects that I started 10 days ago.
Hope everyone's day is sunny. Lindy

Food, glorious food! Lindy, glad you're feeling better, and that you're going to rest so you get to feeling all better. I hear ya about the limited fresh seafood, I'm landlocked here too, I miss N'Awlins if for no other reason than the bags of cheap, fresh, sweet shrimp we could buy on the way home from work. But I buy bags of frozen codfish and salmon fillets and make do with those, still yummy. It's warmed up here, is going to be a lovely weekend, in the 70s and sunny. I slipped my wrist brace off this morning, I don't miss it a bit. I'm not up to Lynn's speed but I'll get there, just more cautiously this time, baby steps ("RA steps"?). Shug what chores do roadrunners have, besides taunting coyotes? (...edited to add pic, for those whose personalities weren't substantially influenced by growing up on "Bugs Bunny" cartoons.)

*Beep Beep* I have a sudden urge to call Acme for an anvil (I wonder if they sell green tomato salsa??? ). I so wanted to plant fall tomatoes, but oh well! My little garden just frittered away with heat and neglect. I think a nice winter garden is on the make though. Your walk sounds lovely, Shug. I tried a bit of a walk down the block yesterday evening, but my back was protesting too much for me to enjoy it much. Maybe another day or two. My eyes are really driving me nuts, maybe extra reading??? I'm going to look into buying stock in Optive - I think I have caused stock prices to go up single handed! Lindy, you say tomatos I say tomatoe, still tasty! Sometimes my brain says something my fingers don't agree with and TA DAAAA! I am glad to hear you are on the mend and that Rueben you mentioned yesterday sounded mighty tasty. There is an Alsatian cafe in a nearby town that makes a great Rueben, so I think I will try and twist DH's arm into a treat this weekend! Snow, I am tickled your wrist brace is gone and you are feeling better! Blessings and hums and hopes for a good day to all. Waddie

Welllll...they keep the rattlesnake population down earlier in the year and thin-out the lizards, gobble up the excess of locust, grasshoppers, and millipedes, which in this country are notoriously and vehemently aggressive, plus they can grow to be over a foot long. Then! they keep those coyotes from mis-detonating all those Acme bombs!

Munchies anyone? I actually got it together to roast a buncha jalapeƱos, Sante Fes, Slim Jims, and bells--in a variety of colours--and make a bowl of ranch-style pepper dip/salad dressing. As part of my purposefully outrageous indulgence I have a package of Poore Brothers sweet chili and red pepper kettle-cooked potato chips (see!! I have to backspace as I spelled it potatoe!) and a New Belgium Brewing HOPTOBER Golden Ale for lunch. Decadence; divine decadence (unabashedly stolen from the movie Cabaret: another favourite.) Off to paint my finger nails green and shorten my hair .

You just managed to get many of my favorite things in one single post, how'd you do that? We're going to dinner with friends tonight so I'm not cooking but I did spend part of the morning planning a dinner party for mid December. It will only be for 8 and it's going to be a "Feliz Navidad" dinner.
I think I'm gaining weight just by reading the posts!!!!! Waddie, hope you get your Reuben this weekend. It sounds like your recovery is going super. I love having you back on the forum, posting your wonderful posts and energizing the forum. We all need one another's energy.
Snow, your cartoon made my mornig. One of favorites.....I always felt so sorry for that coyote until I moved to coyote country. Now I understand. I love the night howls but I don't like them sitting in the cornfield in the evening, staring intently at the house. They know we have kitties and they're just waiting for one of the guys to escape. We keep a close eye on them and so do the coyotes. Lindy
