Everyone loves them! They make great gifts and nothing feels better on a stiff, sore joint.

Equipment:

cotton sock (doesn't matter what shape, color, or size as long as it's cotton so it doesn't melt in the microwave)
dry rice (white, brown - doesn't matter)
potpourri (optional)

Directions:

Take a cotton sock (clean is preferred!) and fill with dry uncooked rice. Tie or stitch the end closed. Heat it in the microwave for about three minutes. Remove carefully, it will be hot!

Treatment:
Place it on or wrap around a joint. The heat lasts for about a half hour.

Get a little inventive - we've heard tell of people all sorts of things to stuff with rice - potholders, place mats, etc. Try one of these:

1. You can add a pinch of potpourri to the rice for a soothing touch of aromatherapy.
2. A rice sock also makes a very nice wrist rest for your computer mouse. Just heat it up, and place it in front of your mouse. Lay your wrist on it while you are using the mouse.
3. Fill one only about 1/3 full. Tie at halfway point. Heat, fold top down and insert your hand....a rice mitten!

Now, if we could only find a way to fit a body size rice sock into a microwave!
