I'm looking to buy a new bed and mattress that will help me sleep. Mine is too firm. Any recommendations?A softer one.........
Hey Jodi, I have a temperpedic mattress pad (the real one) and it turned my to firm bed to perfect. It really keeps me from getting "pressure point" pain when I sleep. I eventually would love to afford the temperpedic mattress set but it is a little out of my price range right now
I just visited my sister and she had one of those "number" beds AND it was adjustable. I can't imagine how much it cost, but I would certainly want one if I ever had the money
Jodi,
My brother has a thermapedic and he loves it. Says it's a very comfortable bed.
I used to run a waterbed boutique and we specialized in alternative bedding for medical problems leading to insomnia.
I hate waterbeds myself, after sleeping on one for 15 years I could no longer fall asleep, so after much research I bought a 100% latex mattress. It has no springs, and is soft like butter by still gives support. Try laying down on one. They are pretty popular. I would not reccommend tempur-pedic. I sold hundreds of them and had nothing but complaints and returns. We had to stop selling them since they were not comfortable for 1 out of 2 people. That is a 50% return rate. Unacceptable.
I have an adjustable bed with a latex foam mattress, and I wouldn't give it up for anything. If we have to sleep away from home, I don't...sleep, that is.
I have raved about it before, so I apologize to folks who have heard me before, but the sleep number bed is the only kind I will ever buy again. For any bed in my house, not just my own.
While it is a bit pricey at the outset, it has ended up being worth every cent. With pain in both hips and my back, I have a lot of difficulty sleeping in other kinds of beds. Any kind of pressure hurts so much. But my adjustable air mattress bed doesn't hurt me at all. And if I am restless and can't get comfy, I can change the setting up or down, depending on my mood!
I also am so happy that it doesn't break down like other mattresses do where my big old rear end goes. Other mattresses always have developed a sway there, and I've had to keep flipping and turning them. This one doesn't - it's exactly the same as when I bought it in 2000.
there - I'm done.

I also have a full latex foam mattress and we love it. Stan's hip pain disappeared completely and it helped my upper back pain. Best purchase we ever made. Lindy
I want one Karen

A comfortable mattress is a Vera Wong SERTA, and without hubby in it.Joonie,
I hear that! I've never slept better since my husband and I split up. I have more room in the bed and no one snores.
Serta makes the best RATED mattresse I heard
pj don't you LOVE overstock.com?? I got the same toppers (their ok) but I get all my sheets and stuff there, Domestications is good too!
oh it is comfy, and i usually sleep well, if i ever go to sleep. I sleep on an Aerobed, with a memory foam topper. When the husband and I first decided to have separate rooms so we wouldn't keep waking each other up, I slept on the full-size Aerobed that the kids had for roadtrips to gramma's or my sister's house. I was going to get a "real" bed, but I really like the Aerobed! I did get a memory foam topper for it, for extra cushiness. This summer I had a real tragedy... my trusty Aerobed (5 years old) developed a leak. Luckily I found a new one on clearance at Overstock for about . I absolutely love my bed! Oh and I have about 10 pillows on it too.

Vera wong or very wrong? just kidding. I sleep ok with ambien help since the wife and I split up, but I miss her more than sleep. She just got tired of my health problems, and says she will come home after I get my health and life straightened out. Part of the reason it sucks to be me.
I am sorry Chris

Man Chris what a bummer for you...So sorry. My hubby wouldn't know what a normal wife was so I guess I'm pretty blessed. You are so nice not to trash talk her. How long have you been seperated if you dont mind me asking? Stress plays such a big role in auto immune diseases...

We have been seperated for 9 long, sexless months. I miss the sex more than anything else. She IS being faithful. She just can't stand to see me all gimped up, and it's hard for the kids. Now I am doing much better physically so maybe one day soon we can get back together. I had a string of bad luck too....I wrecked our minivan due to a seizure I had because of Ultram. Apparently I am one of the people who is susceptible to seizures from taking it. I plowed into the back of a Camry in January of this year, bit a hole through my tongue, broke both my arms, dislocated my shoulder, and busted my spleen. It took moths for me to heal and my RA was out of control. So, I would have left me too I guess.
Wow! That is a lot you went thru. It sounds like you are on the road to recovery. I mean it was not really your fault for what happened to ya. But some cannot take the pressure to see a loved one go thru so much and see them like that makes them feel helpless.
I am sure you will have sex once again! And some time before the year is out.
Joonie is a prophetess so you can count on the sex buddy
Sex? What is sex? Never heard of.......ohhhh- now I remember. It's when a man and a woman do things and then a stork arrives and then.........Will you be my new best friend??? Hahahah
Katie..I would love to swap Trek stories. Did you know that the very first episode of Star Trek was on last night at 5:00am on tvland? Kirks name was James R. Kirk instead of James T. Kirk, they all wore goofy turtlenecks, and no one wore the red uniforms, which is a good thing since on the old star treks if you were wearing a red uniform and you beamed down, you were guaranteed to die an early death. I like them all, including "Enterprise" which is on SCI-FI mondays from 7 to 11 PM EST.
I watch entirely too much tv. Nice to know other trekkies are here.
Actually there's 7 episodes before Shatner even takes over. How cool is that?? And Spock looks TOTALLY different. I hear ya about being a red shirt though!! We always have a giggle at that. "Oh, he's a red shirt. He's gonna die..."

Opps! Sorry. No more thread hijacking.
JOONIE!!!
Don't worry about it Chris. We're all just trying to find our way here, also. And it isn't easy - conversations evolve and change. But sometimes then what happens is the original question or topic gets left behind and the person who posted it is left hanging! It's going to take some practice for all of us - myself included.
