Hi all, Thanks for the laugh Betsy, maybe this has been sent to us because of your comparison of Viagra and Proctin??? What we want is the opposite..no viagra pill???  Argaiv maybe, we could call it! Any more suggestions? I need one today.

OH my gosh!what descriptive reading.  Hey, Lyn, I did get a little paranoid over that ...like someone sinister has been reading my posts.  That's okay, guys, I'm starting my Procrit injections this morning, go ahead on and enjoy your medical condition. Now, we're both happy. I just wanted some  damn blood!  (Insert blood shot, wild eyed look here) Danke. You guys are SO funny! Thank you Reni, and all my crazy predhead friends! It has turned out to be a fun thing, hasn't it?  Let's just humiliate the "V people" til they melt into a minute blob in cyberspace, never to be raised again. (No pun intended) How da'st they invade our space! Where is Georgianna?  Viagra is free in Canada for veterans, our way of getting rid of seniors....?

hi all.....funny funny, yes we are all stiff enough for sure...we need unstiffening????  georgianna still talking space, no doubt, she is still up on cloud 9 and she has every reason to be.

you all have a great sense of humor, may we always maintain it to rise/raise above the rest.....another pun???

rose

Betsy,

I sure hope you get your Procit soon, you're sounding a little vampirish!

You take care!

Kathy

Hi Kathy and Rose,  Yep, you're right Kathy, I was seriously ready to  suck somebodies neck!  It just made me crazy that Medicare would not pay for me to have the blood.  But, I persevered, and had my first injection yesterday.  I so look forward to feeling better and being better able to fight the PMR.  I'm glad you shared with your husband, and I'm glad you joined this forum.  You're so fun!  I reread that German thing that you translated.  "It does not stand any longer"?  Well, that's just sad, now and way too much information.

Rose, you cynical hoot!  A woman after me own heart!  Talk about dry humor. Georgianna, is probably hiding our til the V people thing settles down.  She...unlike the rest of us...has to maintain some dignity for her son's sake. Love to you all. Later, dudes.

Hi all,
What the heck was that all about?  I get a kick out of the comercials on tv for cialis, if you have an erection for more than 4 hours seek medical help.
Betsy, so glad for you, hope the drug works and you feel better.
I have spent the last two days under the mri machine testing the brain???????????? neck and spine. I do not know what he is looking for.  I think he is having doubts about pmr because the pred is not working so good, only at high doses, also had blood work done, I go back to him next week. I will let you all know
Thank you all for your prayers for my sons safe return from space.
It was a very exciting time for  us.  I told him to stay on the ground for a while, he said the views were spectacular and it was a wonderful experience.
........................Love to all Georgiana...................
hope and pray you get good results georgiana, we had great visit this past week with our son and family from Newfoundland,,,,,does your son listen to your advise georgiana???stay on the ground etc...my son listens but heed me???not......he is 50 but still my little boy and I am so proud of him as you must be of yours.....we are blessed.

have a nice weekend all of you,,,,,weather is sure scary everywhere, so much rain,,,,should we start to build an ark????

If my hubby has erection for 4 hours I would think rigor mortis has set in and he died and went to heaven!!!!! eh Brich?

take care    rose

Rose, You are a scream!!   Check his pulse if that ever happens.  That may be the only way you can tell.

Georgianna, You don't even want to know what's been going on!  It has been hilariously funny, but inherently evil. You'd have to go back to the first post on this thread and read it all the way through.

I'm so glad they are doing all the tests.  I believe they are about to figure it out for you.  I so, so hope they can.  Glad your'e back!

My question is--if the erection is four hours-exactly what do they do for the other 3 hours and 56 mins?  Always wonder about that. Okay, I will be nice from now on,before I get kicked off.

Lonna

Lonna, you are a hoot!

Geogianna, my husband had a brain MRI today.  He said they did an electronic brain angiogram also.  For him they are looking for blockages in his veins that might be causing TIA's (mini stokes) which can lead to a full blown stroke.  He had a heart attack in March and has been having unrelated dizzy spells and disorientation for sometime now.  Do you have GCA?

Take care....Kathy

You guys are so funny.  I had to go back to the beginning and read this thread again, I needed to laugh, all of you are so funny.
Kathy......I don't think i have gca, are the symptoms headaches?
Mine was not an electronic mri, I think he is looking for lesions on my brain. Is there a test for gca?
Rose, Lonna, Betsy, Reni you are all too funny, you made my day, I laughed so hard at your remarks.
.................Georgiana.................

Georgianna,

I was looking at some of your posts last night. You poor thing you have suffered a lot.

The only test I've seen other than the normal PMR blood tests is they do a biopsy from tissue on your temple to determine GCA. The symptoms of GCA do include headaches.

Take care, Kathy

Lonna, How funny!  I hadn't thought of that.  I guess they just sit there real proud.  I never did understand all that anyhow...how that works.  But then I'm the one that after being married for 2 weeks to my first husband was told, "You're supposed to move." So, I just said, "Uh, ukay." and got up and left.  It was much later that I found  if he'd been doing anything at all right I would have been moving.  Oh my gosh!  That's just too much information. We're liable to be picked up for a reality series.  "Grannies Gone Wild"  I 'pologize.

Georgianna and Kathy, forgive our craziness in the midst of your real problems.  If those German people just hadn't posted on our forum, none of this would ever have happened.  Love to all.

Hi, All!

It is so nice to "see" the wonderful humor coming out in everyone again - especially you, Betsy. We have all needed those laughs, as Georgiana said.

Georgiana, I think the only "test" they can do for GCA (other than the sed rate, and maybe being able to see the artery bulging, red and painful to the touch), is to do a biopsy of the temporal artery. They will take a small piece of it to check under the microscope - it is an in-office procedure, so I guess not bad. When do you get the results of all your tests? That waiting can be so hard.

Kathy, that's scary about your husband. Will keep him in our prayers as well.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. My husband and I are off to the state fair today. Will meet our "kids" there. It should be fun, and our weather is perfect - not too hot, not too cold. Actually, I've been tempted to invite you all over here again. While everywhere else seems to be so hot or getting too much rain, we have had a cool, dry summer so far. Can't complain.

Reni

Yes Rose, thats what they did, had a cigarette,  and Betsy,  you were supposed to move, i can't believe you, were we so naive when we were young, not like the kids today, my mother told me not to let a boy touch me or i would get pregnant, i thought if he just touched my arm i would have a baby, so i can believe you when you say you didn't know you were supposed to move,
did you read the profile for the german, look at the date of birth.
am i reading that right?

Georgianna,

You just break my heart!!!!  I don't think you did anything wrong. You are just trying to deal with the pain.  I've read on many posts that people are starting out on 40 mgs per day.  If it were me I'd put a call in to the doc on call and let them know what you did just to be safe.  Rose, if you have a cell phone with free long distance please call me also if you need to talk. I'll send you my number on a private message.  I hope you are feeling better....you are worring me greatly!!!

Kathy

Georgianna,  It really, really makes me cry, too!  It breaks my heart that you are in such pain.   I just think there's something going on that they haven't found yet.  40 mg should relieve anyone who has PMR.  You've just always had too much trouble.  Surely the results of your last tests will show something, or help them know where to go next.

Worrying about what's wrong with you and what will happen to you is a real ugly part of this, I think. Just the most horrible depression sometimes.  I do that when the fatigue and the pain compete with each other for too long.  I just lie in bed and cry sometimes.     Maybe you should call your kids.  This is too much to do by yourself.

We will all surely pray for you this morning...that you will be comforted in every way.  Love

Georgiana,

I'm here for you, too. Wish I were there to hold your hand and, yes, tell a joke or two. I agree with Rose that you should call your kids, even if you do cry. At least they could cry with you. I've done that with my mom when she's been in such pain and so depressed that she didn't know what to do. And don't ever feel embarrassed if your children ever have to do for you - I've taken care of my mom when she's been real sick. She'd cry and apologize and what not, and I'd just tell her I was honored to take care of her. She took care of me all these years, now it was my turn to help. After we'd cry together, we'd usually end up reminscing about something funny and end up laughing. So - call the kids. And also about calling your dr. about taking extra pred. Please do call to make sure it's all right if you are concerned. They should have some kind of emergency line or something if it the weekend. Or call a pharmacy if you can't get your dr. on the phone. They sometimes know know more about the meds than the dr. Try not to think about all the scary things that "could" be wrong. I know that's easier said than done. I've been there and done that, and scared myself half to death for two weeks agonizing over something I "might" have until I realized there was nothing I could do about it until I know something for sure. Find a funny book to read, watch a funny movie (have your kids bring you one and watch it with you) - anything to try to get your mind off the worry.

Check your private message box for my phone #, too, if you want to call. Or send me your # and I'll call you. I'm really praying for you. Hang in there.

Love you,
Reni

Hi Georgina:  I feel so bad for you.  I did suffer for eight months before the doctor diagnois with PMR.  He immediately put me on 50mg of Pred for one week.  This was even before he knew my SED rate.  I am 5 ft 2 in and (now) 150 lbs. Just to give you an idea of my size and the dosage I was on.  The high dosage did get rid of the pain and the doctor reduced me to 25 mg for two weeks then 20mg for two weeks.  The pain came back, not as bad, but there again.  Now I am back up to 25mg.  I agree with the others that you shoud get in touch asap with you doctor.  You are in my prayers, dear one.

HI All:  re four hour erection.  I had a friend (male) who had a female doctor.  When he brough up this commercial to her....her answer was 'what am I supposed to do with it????

Sorry, in case you haven't seen the cialis commercial it states 'if the erection last longer than 4 hours, see your doctor'..so this was the doctor's reply.  Didn't think I explained myself very well.  Just a laugh, we need it.

Hi Missy, It does seem like overkill, doesn't it.  It's just excessive. I mean you can only smoke so many cigarettes.    It must be exhausting...and they sure can't go anywhere.  What about work?  Is calling in stiff acceptable?  OMG!

(Don't you know the guys are getting a big kick out of this.)

This morning when I tried to reply to you, there was no reply box.  Just a message that said I wasn't authorized to reply.  So, I momentarily entertained the thought that I had been kicked off the forum for all the crude comments.  I could just see the headlines:  "Local Artist Indicted For Granny **" or something like that. I think the Procrit made me do it..  I've only been acting this way since they gave me that shot.  I hope I don't go on to drown dogs or something.  Have a great day, predheads!

Hmmm.  It wouldn't let me type that one word after Granny.  I am definitely being sensored.  Ok, I will spell the word after "Granny" backwards, then you can insert it.  NROP.Betsy,

I had the same problem with that word earlier, and ended up with the asterisks instead. I figured you all would get the message. I guess they rally do oonitor these things, but I don't know why one can't use that word. Oh, well. This thread has been too funny. I'm surprised the guy who started it hasn't come back with something.

So you can tell that the procrit is working? Are you more energetic? You certainly have your sense of humor and positive attitude back, and that is wonderful!

Reni
You guys are so FUNNY, thanks for the laughs Thanks, Chico.  I thought it was great fun.  I noticed that nearly 500 people read this thread, but just a few of us predheads commented.  I hope no one was offended.  Anyhow, let unsolicited advertisers enter with extreme caution.  We will attack unmercifully until they tuck their tails in shame and run.  Seriously, it just delighted me that we are able to laugh despite our pain and fatigue. There are some really funny people on our forum!!! Love to all.Hi Reni, No, I can't tell about the Procrit yet.  It's been a week tommorrow. I'm going to start the Plaguenil for RA tomorrow.  I had to have some eye tests done first before I could start it. It6's supposed to be a scary med with some serioous side effects.  I just pray I can take it.  How are you? I haven't chatted with you in a while.Hi, Betsy!

I'm doing pretty well. Got a different (my 3rd) orthotic for my foot, and it seems to be helping more than all other rest, though healing is really slow. The podiatrist said that if there is systemic inflammation, then local inflammation like a tgnedonitis would take longer to heal. I'll really be glad when it's gone, but at least I can walk most of the time now without limping.

Seems like so many of the meds are kind of scary once you start looking at all the possible side effects. I think my body is pretty strong, and most of them don't affect me too badly if at all. I did take plaquenil for 6 months with no problem. Glad you got your eyes checked before taking it. I hope you notice results from the procrit real soon.I wasn't sure how long that is supposed to take to kick in. One of my previous rheumatologists said that it could be 6 weeks before the plaquenil kicked in.

I'm sure it's because it's summer, although not that hot here, that I'm having serious hot flashes and lots of them. It's getting very annoying, but I don't want to take any HRT. Have tried a few other things with no success. Anybody have any ideas? I just got back from my morning walk about a half hour ago, and am now dripping wet. Not normal. Going to Bend for 4 days? Wish I could too, but I'm too stiff to bend! Hey! Sense of humor rampant here!! Love it,
can't cry when you are laughing!      LibethYou are all too crazy!  You make me laugh when I'm so tired I just can't.  What or where is Bend?  Good to hear from you Libeth.  I like the little clapping dudes!I want to know where Bend is and How I can get there, cause I am with
Chico... there is little bending around here tonight!
pgrI want to know where Bend is and How I can get there, cause I am with

pgrBetter ask Reni (see nitwit's last post). She and her husband are going to Bend for 4 days to celebrate their 30th anniversary... Haha!!

Bend is in the eastern part of Oregon. Guess you could say we're going around the bend, too. It's a desert area compared with the Willamette Valley in the western part of the state. They get snow there in the winter, too, where we don't usually. Thanks for the well wishes. Yes, we will have a wonderful time. We are going to take a cave tour, where they will give us the lamps that you put aroiund your head to see. Should be interesting. And then a hike around Newberry Crater (an extinct volcano), plus a trip to the High Desert Museum. There is always something new to see there.  Some day we may do the cruise thing, but for now, we're content ot stay close to home and see the sights here. Maybe just sit in the pool or hot tub at the Inn of the Seventh Mountain where we will be staying.

Glad you got some fun out of my post before you knew what and where Bend is. Reni,
Congrats on the 30 years! Our 30th was 3 weeks ago, but we spent what
was to be our trip money sending our 1 son who just graduated college to
Europe and the other who just finshed hs early to Peru... thought we would
do a 4 day bike trip, but the younger one had gotten his license 1 week
earlier, so when we saw the gleam in his eye we decided to stay home [:$

Would love to just make it away t around the next bend in the road!
