Ok so i went to my dr this afternoon, which was a BIG waste of my time.  I have been having really bad pain in my hand and really my whole arm so my dr said that i dont have any cartlidge in my wrist.  So i asked him what  can do for the pain.....His response...Oh take some ibprofin....HAHAHAHAH is he nuts? does he actually think this is going to work?????  He also wanted me to go on Humira...well i have no insurance so id have to pay out a grand to take it.  Which is NEVER gonna happen...Im soooooo frustrated and in so much pain.  I could barely push my 3 yr old in her stroller at the mall..I dont know what to do anymore..Oh and i was wondering if this has happened to any of you.  I got my normal blood work done today too and after she took the blood i have this big bruise and its hurts to touch around it.  Is this something is should be worried about?  ok well enough venting for me.

Shannon

Aren't dr's great?! mine are about as good, but i'm still waiting for latest rheumy appt,  oh and you have one up on me, my aunt has the easiest pushchair in the world for my god daughter, and there's no way i can push her! and she's only 6 months too!   well i think its the joys of it all,  but i guess there does come a time when they can't do anything, i am just glad that we don't have to have insurance over here!    well i know i'm not much use, but sending you  big hugs all the same

I cant believe that your doc suggested Ibprofen, like that actually works for severe pain like ours.

Shawnie

yea i was thinking the same thing.   Ibprofen didnt work for me when it wansnt even as bad as it is now.  What are these people thinking????? yea i loved where he suggested that i take Humira.  hahaha yea like i have a grand to spend hahaha i wish   grrrrr i dunno what to do...Kelsaysmommy, check into the websites for Humira and see if you can qualify for a free program.  I understand they have them.  If that doesn't work, see if you have any County resources available.

I looked into the one on the humira website and they do some program were if you partisipate in their surveys they give you up to 0 in rebates for the drug.  well the 00 that id have to pay out of pocket is including those rebates...So that idea is out.  I will look into the county resources.  Theres one program through the clinic i go to but i make too much money to qualify.  GRRRRRRRRR dont they understand that you can have these health problems and still make money..but i will look into something else.  Thanks for the suggestion

I really thought Humira had a free program as well, for folks like you.  I say dig deeper for such a program. And make noise until you get what you need.   Call and speak to a human at their 800 number.  Keep in mind there are three other biologics you might consider--Enbrel, Remicade and Kineret.  I believe all of them have assistance programs and 800 numbers.

sara- i will call them tomorrow and find out maybe i wasnt reading the right things on the website....i'll try calling the number for enbrel i have a script for that too...

thanks for that info!

Shannon,

If it's any help, i don't know about the Embrel or the Humira, but Remicade has a free program for people with no insurance and at a certain income level.  You have to requalify every 6 or 8 months, the exact number escapes me right now.  I took advantage of this program for almost two yrs. then changed jobs and went above the income limit.  Hope you can get some relief soon!

Allen

Thanks allen- i'll look into that one also  if i cant qualify for humira.  Im sure they all have the same income qualifications though, but its worth a try it doesnt hurt any.  I dont understand why you have to qualify with income, just because you make more then whats allowed you still might not be able to pay for it out of pocket.... thats just my opinoin though

i thought you might be interested in this program.  its prescription assistance and the commercial is on tv too.  i've heard good things about them and they really do help and some get it for free.  good luck.
