Goodmorning everyone!  How is everyone today?  I slept VERY crappy.  There were bad storms that passed through here last night and well lets just say my dog is a BIG baby.  It was kinda funny though, then turned sad.  She went from being this big guard dog barking at every window to this little baby sayin "momma im scared"  all night she just kept cryin

What kind of dog do you have Shannon? We are researching breeds but can't seem to figure out what we want yet. (Anyone else answer....I'd love suggestions). I want a small, non-shedding, low energy dog. My husband says "What's the point? That doesn't even sound like a dog! I said "Take it or leave it Mr.!" I'm not exactly an animal person....but I'm willing to try.

She is a terrior mix. shes small but she has LOTS of energy.  She doesnt shed that much really.  She is actually my mom's dog, we are just watching after her while my mom and little brother are staying w/ my grandparents for a while.  I dont know if i'll be able to give her back though

  Good Morning eneryone

Shannon your poor dog

Hope everyone has a great day

Wow look who is up early this morning!!!  Yea the storms SUCKED last night.  Hope all is well up by your parents Katie, hopefully they didnt get any damage.

G'mornin' Glories!

Checking in to say hello.  Made my kid delivery to Band Camp, and weeding through my emails and such.  Lovie, I know it makes sense to do practice early, but boy that really is early!  Yikes!

I've been watching and worrying about everyone from our boards living in the midwest, with all of the horrible flooding.  I hope everyone is okay.

I't a cool, cloudy, misty kind of day here today, but I hear Saturday is going to be horribly hot and humid.  UGH.

How's everyone doing?

Hey Karen and Mona - I read the rest of yesterdays chat. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm glad I wasn't here to try to help explain photobucket. Y'all were making my head spin. Mona you crack me up.

Oh and your son is a cute Barbie, Karen. LoL

Put it off a little bit longer Katie. You still have a little ways to go

Lovie, I love my little Pompoo. she's sweet, smart, loves everybody, doesn't chew things up, and really she doesn't shed but has tons of fur. Just keep her brushed and no problem with shedding. I trim her myself but remember some dogs have to be groomed, So if you don't want to have to do that choose a short haired breed like Shannons or one similar. Short haireds like my dahtshound(sp) sheds like crazy.

Jeez Katie I never claimed I was the brightest star that ever shined ya know! I'm an old foogy rememberLOL I'm teasing you. It sure was fun to read about though!!

Morning Karen Ok I'm out for a while. Don't have too much fun without me!! I'll log back on this afternoon at work!

Bye Katydid  Be careful out and about

My sister has a poodle and honestly I believe that is the smartest dog there is. I think I read that somewhere too. The mixed breeds are healthier my vet said. Their gene pool is better because it doesn't go straight up

He's incredibly smart, doesn't shed, doesn't yap, and loves everyone.

I have a bichon/maltese mix who is a real cuddler.  Several times a day she just climbs up on me and snuggles.  She doesn't shed, but she does need to be groomed regularly.

I also have a boxer - too big for what you want, an American Eskimo - sheds A LOT, and a chiweagle who is a great companion - he doesn't give kisses, he gives hugs.  I've never had a dog do that!  There's nothing like a "Bandit Hug" to brighten your day.

Moana, my head is still swimming!

   Sorry Karen

Moose hunting - wow!  Do people eat moose?  I guess they must, just never thought about, Deidre!

yea anything mixed w/ a poodle is a big thing now.  And the end result i guess you could call it, they are just the cutest things.  My brother has a mixed breed, part beagle and part doberman....

Ohhh Alaska I'd love to be there, we're melting in NC. Plus it's such beautiful scenery, so much natural beauty! I saw a Jeff Corwin special about Alaska the other night and it was breath taking!

Moose is alot like beef, only less fat. It's considered more like fish, nutritionally. My DH usually gets one or shares in one every year. If we have to buy red meat it's a sad year. Haven't done that in 20 years. Then there's always the chance of getting a road kill, I know that sounds terrible, but a couple hundred get hit on the highway every year and they are so long legged the bodies don't usually get banged up too bad when they walk out on the road at the wrong time.Deidre~ Do you have any pictures that you could share w/ us?  Alaska is so beautiful!

Here's a photo of my granddog, Capone, when they first got him.

SHOW OFF! Just kidding he's adoreable and looks exactly like a shih-tsu. What a cutie

Have a good day at work Deidre.  Come back on when you get home if you have time.  Someone will be here!

Now I want a mooseburger!

Shannon did Kelsay do ok again today? I had to stay everyday in Kindegarten with my whiney son! UGH  and he had been to pre school! He was attached to my hip forever

Don't worry about it Moana, boys seem to react that way more than girls, from my experience in working at school and day care.  I also remember thinking my own son's seemed younger emotionally than my daughter did when they went off to kindergarten.

Well it's for sure a proven fact girls mature faster than boys.

I've had big dogs Linda, Doberman , German Shepherd, and a Lab. They were outside dogs though, so mostly closer to son and hubby. Even though I was the one who fed and watered.

I've had big dogs in the past but never a small inside dog and I've just got my heart set on a small day. We've thought about a mini-pincher but they have a high energy level and I'm a little worried about leaving one at home all day while my husband and I both work.

Also I'm not sure I could manage a big dog alone anymore. Some of those large dogs can be very strong!

Is she excited to go back?

Thats hillarious Linda, boy such brutal honesty

I have some stories about recovering from foot surgery with 3 puppies who want to be on the bed with me.   Not easy.

Lynne

Good Morning Everyone!  I'm up and taking my little one, Lily, to the doc for a throat culture.  2nd week of school and she woke up with a sore throat!  Ugh.  Happens every year.  She has Epilepsy, so any illnesses can become huge problems.  Poor girl!  We're headed out - but just wanted to vent a little and say good morning to everybody!  Wish us luck that it's not Strep!  Talk to you later.

Oh and Lynne, I LOVE cocker spaniels!  DARLING!

Hillhoney, CAPONE?  What's his first name...Fifi?

(definitely doesn't look like a "Capone")

I had what was left of my two front teeth extracted today, and my jaw drilled to put spikes in to hold my new ones. OUCH!

Oh well, at least the worst is overwith and I have some temporary teeth in so I can eat(whenever the pain goes down). He gave me percocet 7.5/325 x20qty so I should be ok.

Mona, the son that didn't miss me has always been the most affectionate of all my kids.  My 15 year old girl, well, I've never heard her say it, but I wouldn't be surprized if she tells people that I'm just her "driver"

Nini, they named him Capone because they were living in Chicago at the time.  My daughter and I wanted Fenway for the Red Sox, but her fiance is a Mets fan, so well, it's Capone!

Jen, I know you said you hope your daughter doesn't have strep, but I always remember that I would hope for a positive strep test, cause they can treat that with antibiotics, and when its viral there isn't much they can do.

Linda there is just something special between a mother and son.

Even if he calls home and hubby answers Trey asks for me

Chri~` hope you got some good pain meds

Yeah, Mona, I think you're right

I was up all night with the storms here and today it's so hot.Its been awful muggy here Ii feel like I am living in a rain forest.

Tomorrow I am going to a  shopping center with a friend and were gonna keep cool and shop. Ive been in all week. Not even working in the yard.

Sounds like a fun day tomorrow!!  Shopping for anything in particular, or just looking?

Linda my daughter is coming by this afternoon to help her poor ole pitiful mom post picts

Thinkthinn I remember reading about your dog and how sad you were. I'm glad you can think about getting another one now. Do you want the same kind or something different? Good luck

moana39317.4516319444

Jen, I hope Lily is feeling better soon. When I started teaching, I was sick that whole first year - caught every darn thing going around. Then I got married and went to the dr for my pregnancies.  I was going through a backround process to have my own licensed daycare facility on base and they checked my health records. I had an 8 yr. gap in my medical records because I was so healthy, but they accused me of taking a section out, like I had something to hide, sheesh....

Growing up I had Wes Highland white terriers. They were cute, but high (grooming) maintenance. Now I have a toy rat terrier, who is the smartest dog I have ever come across. He follows directions down to the tiniest detail. I will tell him to go find me a tennis ball and he will dig through all the balls and find it, bring it to me. I can ask him to put it in my hand or tell him go down to son's room and give it to him and he will. He will throw the ball at us if we ask or gently put it in our hand. He makes a funny half-bark noise if we tell him to say please before we throw the ball for him. He has the coloring of a holstein cow, with short legs and very short hair. His name is Hoover because he is a piggy when it comes to food or crumbs on the floor. We also have two large dogs that are indoor dogs. They were both rescues, so we aren't sure what they are. One looks like a solid black, but very small german shepherd. HER name is Ralph - don't ask, lol. The other was severly abused and was only 35 lbs when we rescued her. Now she is a happy, healthy 88lbs. She looks like a shepherd/austrailan shepherd and such a joy. She adores our new 1lb kitten.

Wow, sorry, I didnt mean to write a novel...

Boy, you guys are up early today!!

I slept in but Stan herded the cats into the bedroom and shut the door.  I woke up to 3 cats kitty dancing on my body.

Lovie, if I were going to get a dog I'd get a Welsh or Cardigan Corgi.  I love Corgis.  Great personalities, smart, lovers, just nice dogs.  I had a Queensland Heeler (herding dog) for 10 years and she was such a love.  Very pig headed and high energy but was so sweet to me.  We had to put her to sleep 2 years ago.  She was suffering.  I still miss her but with traveling as much as we do we don't want another dog.  Maybe when we settle down, if we ever do, we'll get a Corgi.

Chris, I had sympathy pains reading your post.  I hope you're doing better, take it easy.

Moana, don't feel bad I can't post pics.  We've got so many different spam blocks and security stuff on the computer that sometimes I have a difficult time doing things on the computer.  I'm trying to teach myself Photoshop Elements and I keep running into problems.  Very frustrating.

I'd love to post pics but................

I'm not doing much today, just vegging.  Will check back in later.  Lindy

Thanks Lindy for making me feel "not so dumb" after all

I got to get up and get busy putting clean bed linens on. I't kills me to pull and tug at sheets, especially when my neck and shoulders hurt so bad Hi everyone!!  I haven't read the whole thread yet just don't have the time right now but just wanted to say hi real quick and hope everyone is doing well.  It is icky and muggy here and we are under a severe thunderstorm watch right now.  Had some slammin storms last night.

Found out yesterday that my grandbaby that is due in December is boy!!!!  FINALLY I GET A BOY!!!!  I am so happy.

Must run now and hit the shower. Just got a phone call that Danny and the girls are on the way home because Arielle slammed Danielle's fingers in the car door.  Gotta run her down the street to the doc office for some xrays. I will let everyone know if any of them are broken.  I haven't seen her yet so I don't know by just looking at them.  Ok..peace out everyone!!!!

Thank you all.  We're home and Lily has STREP!  Ugh!  Second week of school.  Oh well - she's got her antibiotics and probiotics and we're keeping her resting and praying for quick recovery and no seizures!  Thank you all for the support - you are lovely!

Hugs,

Jen

YICS! FInger in the the door is horrible! Bless her heart. I hope she's ok.

Hope lilttle Lily is ok too. (Absolutely LOVE that name! Can I steal it for my new puppy?)

Well, I am hurting, swelled, stiff and grouchy because I am hurting. I did not take my pred last night, because of the confusion with how I was to take it. I just figured I would be ok like I was last time, I did not take it, but ends up not the case

What?! I am still experimenting with my meds

It just seems when you whole body is swelled, stiff and hurting it take more energy outta ya to do anything. But of course, I already knew this, but forgot it as I was not sooo swelled and stiff and hurting like I am today.

The things you forget. I guess if you can forget how squeezing a watermelon thru a pea sized hole feels and end up doing it again, that it is easy to forget how being like this feels.

It is like everything is bothering me. Burning in my shoulder blades, neck is stiff... it is just weird how 5mg of a med makes your life much more managable.

Liz- Congrats on finally getting a boy!! I read it in your daughers bulletin on myspace this morning and thought to myself how excited you must be!!!

Be well everyone!

Hugs,

Jen

Linda---You are close enough that when you ever go on vacation we can dog sit!!!

edited to add:  I think you are at least...im all confused now on who lives where lol

Shannon, do you mean me?  Theirs a lot of linda's around here.  I'm in MI, are you in Ill or IN?  I think it's one of those two.  I would love to leave my dogs at your house.  When ever I hire a neighborhood kid, something always goes horribly wrong.  Last time my Golden dug up a sprinkler head and about three feet of the pipe.

Welsh Corgi's and dachhund's are adorable!!  They look so happy.  My son has a corgi

Jennifer, at least antibiotics work really fast with strep.  Hope it stays quiet at your house, seizure wise.

LOL shan. You should look into transportation for her. Just because you live close doesn't mean they can't do it. Especially if you can get something stating that you cannot walk that far with her. People get bus waivers all the time. Call the school and ask.

Excellent suggestion Katie. Walking is fine right now; but wait until it's cold out.....or raining! That would be horrible.

Aren't Corgi's fairly heavy dogs? About the built of a baset? I don't think I'd be able to lift it with my back the way it is and I want something I can pick up easily and wash in the sink. (I hate dirty stuff and if I'm gonna have it in the house I'll have to give it a bath often or I'll go crazy!). We had an old neighbor that had dascashunds and Mr. Lovie (Often very grouchy) hates them. He acts like he's too much of a man for a small dog anyway......but he's slowly coming around.

Can you see where this choosing a dog breed has been a challenage?  Dogs live so long and I so want to make the right choice. I'm getting very frustrated!

Yeah, shannon, I had that same problem with my daughter. She cried because she did not go to a school that had a yellow bus, and we took her to school every morning. And now that she is going to public school she gets to ride the school bus, she was happy the first week or so of riding the bus and then she decided she wanted to go back to her private school and having us driver her to school. fickle kid!

Now she talks about she wants to go back to private school... but I just keep telling her we do not have the money anymore. And then he daddy tells her she is getting a better education in the public school. Which she is because the private school, she use to have her teachers around her finger and they would give in to her and in public school she is dealing with seasoned teachers who do not get close enough to their students to let them wrap them around their finger.

Her first year in public school, she actually got a teacher who just started teaching it was her first school year, too. Well, I would send notes to her teacher telling her how my daughter will try to make her feel sorry for her and all. Well, turns out she had already done it within the first week of being in school. The teacher just could not tell my daughter "no", and she gave into my daughter because she would cry. Yeah... needless to say that was the last year that teacher taught at my daughters school. I joke with my daughter and tell her that she ran off Ms. Bates, because of how she over-rain the teacher.

We got daughter one for her 4th b-day and he is a sweetheart. He is part "hearder dog" and something else. But he has been well worth his and then some. We believe he was abused before ending up in the dog pound because he use to cower when you would go to pet him, and he also would run away from hubby, but did not run away from me & daughter. Him & hubby are now best of friends.

Oh and we got him just in time, because they told us he was to be put to sleep the next week if he had not been adopted. He was 8 months old when we got him.

hmm i'll have to look into that thanks Katie.  I dunno though cause its .23 miles (yea i mapquested it) lol from my house

That's a good idea Joonie and I've suggested it to my husband but he claims to want a puppy so he can raise it. I might try to talk him into going to the pound over the weekend and just looking. Maybe they'll be something there that touches his heart.

Might be worth a shot, right? PLUS; we might be able to find one that's already house broken. That's something I dread!

Our most recent dog we rescued from the animal shelter was really abused. She was curled up tightly in the back corner of her kennel and the workers said they had to carry her in and out to clean. They were unable to get her to walk. They carried her outside so  we could pet her and it was love at first sight. This was on a Sat. and the following Mon. I got a call from the animal control officer who picked her up. He said very few animals touch his heart the way this one did and he spent every lunch break sitting in her kennel just holding her. I told him he was welcome to come see her anytime and he said he maybe would sometime when he was in the area. Anyway, 15 min later he was knocking on our door. Timber went running up to him with a big grin on her face and a toy hanging out the side of her mouth.  She was very close to being put down because she was so traumatized. She is such a joy!

I used to have a Border Collie.  Not really small, but they aren't that big.  Very intelligent dogs, easy to train, and ours was much beloved.  When my daughter was little, well, always really, that dog was by her side, or herding her here and there.  She was never afraid of anything if Jack was with her.  And at bedtime, I'd say...Jack, go with Brenna, and off he'd go to stay by her bed till she fell asleep.  Man, I miss that dog.

My Queensland was a rescue dog, had been mistreated, and left on her own when the owners moved.  She was taken to the pound and my girlfriend saw her, got her, and dropped her off at my house.  I had just bought my house and was alone and Mary figured I needed a dog, in fact she insisted I needed a dog.  I was reluctant to keep her because I traveled a lot with my job.  But it all worked out and she fit right in.  I met Stan soon after I got Dolly and as soon as he walked into the house and saw her her he fell in love with her.  He fell in love with my vegetable garden and my dog before me!

Liz, a boy grandson, you're going to have lots of fun.  Congrats. to you, Danny, and the parents.  Hope Danielle is ok and no broken fingers.  That's a real ouchie.

Biscuit, take your PRED.  you need to feel better.  "Can you hear me"

I have been thinking about trying out my new med Darvacet, but I am afraid it will make me go to sleep, and I still have 30 mins before hubby gets home. Ahhh what the heck ... might take 30 mins before it kicks in.

LOL Yeah Biscuit, take your pred or the mothers will get you!!

I'm so bored at work. And I'm actually enjoying it! I think I'll finish my hurricane story today!

Ok, I took 5mg's. I cannot break them in  half and I thought I had a half left in my other pred bottle, but none were left. So, I took 5mg's, a darvacet & a robaxin. Now let's see if I feel better and less grouchy

Hope everyone is as well as can be hoped for today - which it sounds like from what I have read up on so far today!

Jumping in on this thread mainly though because I want to tell Lovie about the kind of dog that I have that might just make everyone (including Mr Lovie) happy...

I too found it really difficult to make such a lengthy life changing  decision regarding what kind of "best friend" to get (not wanting an exact replacement of my previous pet because I was still too sad about losing him).

So two 2 years ago, I finally ended up picking out a Half Daschund / Half Cairn Terrier (Toto from Wiz. of Oz) after months of driving myself crazy with a ridiculous amount of research (to include all sorts of personality tests, dog sitting, volunteering at the shelter, etc.)... And she really ended up with the best of both breeds traits!!!*

Here is what has made her perfect for me (and might for you all as well:

  * Small and "Portable" (14 lbs) and fits nicely into a lap

  * Many BIG Dog Personality Traits: Outgoing, Friendly, Active, Athletic, Watchdog Alertness with a Low Bark that isn't overused,

  * LOVES All People (especially Kids!) and other pets

  * Can Out-Swim and Out-Retrieve most of the Golden Retrievers, Labs and other big dogs around here - Absolute ball and frizbee freak!

  * ZERO Shedding & ZERO Grooming Requirments - ZERO (No Kidding!

  * Very Intelligent and EASY to Train (knows almost every trick in every dog book - plus some!)

*** The only negative with her (and both breeds can have this issue and she certainly, certainly does) is that she is a Major Digger and between me being too sick to keep working with her on this problem and her having such a strong natural instinct to do so, it has gotten pretty bad!

I will try to post pics later, although now that I think about it, she is kind of funny looking (not to her Mommy's eyes of course - but so I hear) which could be a negative as well...I

Awwww I hope Lily feels better soon!!  Poor baby!!!  Strep is just awful.

Joonie...take your pred!!!!  Don't make me get Danielle after you!!!

Lovie...you will find the right dog for you.  You are doing the right thing by being patient and searching for just the right dog.  And when you do, it will be such a special ting between you and your dog.

Danielle has no broken fingers thank goodness!!!  They are badly bruised and very swollen.  So ice and elevation are in order for her for the next couple of days. The bad thing, it's her left hand and that is the hand that bothers her the most and she can't wear her brace right now.  Also got the paperwork for her 504 plan for school and a formal letter from the doc stating she needs accommodations.

We didn't have any damage from the storms besides some downed branches in the yard.  It was a really good storm tho.  We are about to get another one.  Weather is for sure weird for this time of the year.  The sky got all green looking yesterday but there was no hail or anything like that.  Still under flood watches and warnings.

I am so excited to be having a grandson!!!  I am just going to go nuts with clothes and all the cute boy things that they have for babies.  Lots of Packers stuff!!!

Changing the subject for a moment if I may.....does anyone else have CVS drug stores?  And if yes, do you ALWAYS have to wait FOREVER on line, even if there is only ONE PERSON in ahead of you??????  I don't know how they do it.

OK.....moving on...............................

well the storms are back and are making me and Kelsay nervous.  The tornado sirens went off twice and we just came back upstairs.

I just want hubby to come home

Ok... hubby is home and I am going to go to my bed and sleep the rest of the day away. Or until RD calls.

Oh forgot to say... Glad Danielle's fingers are not broke. Now she can pick her nose again.

Shannon just move to the basement when you hear the sirens. They don't make 'em go off for nothing! You'll be alright :)

Lin, we have CVS but they're not slow at all. MUCH MUCH better than going to Wal-Mart's pharmacy. Now THERE'S a joke for ya.

I'm glad to hear Danielle's fingers aren't broken!

Mel; that does sound like a good fit for our family! I'll have to search them and see what they look like.

Those pound puppy stories touch my heart though. Bad to go buy a dog when so many need homes. BUT; it's the same thing with children right? Kind of just want my very own.

We'll see. Thanks so much for all the suggestions today. You've all given me a lot to think about. I'm working hard not to just jump right into anything.

Yea we were in the basement.  Tornado warning is done now though...I just hate this kind of weather.   OMG walmarts pharmacy is a freakin joke!!!!! I LOVE Costcos pharmacy
well the storms are back and are making me and Kelsay nervous.  The tornado sirens went off twice and we just came back upstairs.

Congratulations on your upcoming grandson's grand entrance! Trucks and dirt, and worms, and boy smell... it is the best!

Joonie, I'm glad you took your pred. Now be a good girl and follow Dr's orders. It is so much easier to take meds if you get into a routine and stick to it. Do you have one of those pill containers that is divided into the days of the week? That is what I use, and each day has four little spaces - am, mid morning, noon, late afternoon, evening. I fill it once a week. I hope you feel more like yourself again soon!

JasmimeRain--Glad you guys havent gotten it by you.  Keep us updated on how you are up there.

Liz--Glad Danielle's fingers arent broken but im sure they still hurt just as bad.

I started changing over my meds from walgreen's to Costco, and two weeks later we got a letter from them saying they no longer fill scripts there, it is done at one central location and they are sent back to the individual Costcos. Forget that! I am switching them back to Walgreen's. I never have a wait there, I was just getting frustrated because they dont always have what I need and they have to order it. I use a mail order pharmacy for most meds, but they dont have Mtx, and a couple of others I take.

Lin,

I use CVS for my scripts and I have a long wait when I go.  I usually call them in and then pick them up the next day if possible.

I think the worst of it is out over Lake Michigan now.  But the weather reports say that it is going to keep raining until TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!  My grass is getting HUGE and I can't do a thing about it!!  I tried cutting it a couple of days ago but the back yard is like a swamp. It was too wet to even attempt to have my son out "trying" to cut the grass.  Oh well, at least we have a good excuse this week!  Of course, he thinks he still deserves to get paid because it's Not His Fault that it rained.  LOL!
I wonder if your storms will be here tomorrow.  All the flooding you guys got down there, man, you're really getting hit.  Feast or famine, huh?Oh, I wasn't even talking about the pharmacy, just the regular check out.  I usually phone my scripts in so I never have to wait for those for too long.Ohhh. I don't really shop at CVS for anything. I dunno. I did buy a florida map there once, and I had to check out at the photo center, cause there was no one else around! Can I post pics that were sent to me in email?  I finally have some from my son's sun rise wedding at the beach

Do not even get me started stoopid pharmacies! They all suck and all have a long wait. And Wal-Mart Pharmacy SUCKS the most. I want to change pharmacies, but seems like too much trouble.

I hate it when I call in my refill on the phone and go to pick it up the next day and they do not have it ready.

Or when you drop off a RX and need it the same day, for your son who is suffering from an ear infection and needs the meds to help take away the pain and you leave for 2 hours and come back and STILL have to wait 45 mins for them to fill it.

Yeah.... Pharmacies SUCK Big donkey cojones!!

Oh, and you'll buy stuff there someday...........like when your daughter says Mom, I need black hair ties for the game and we don't have any.  And you have to be leaving for the game in 20 minutes.

Yup, it's my girls first football game tonight (she's cheer).  Game doesn't start till 7, but she had to be there early for practice.  I love this stuff!!

Hey - I JUST switched from CVS to a local independent pharmacy that DELIVERS (for 2 bucks - worth it for me at this point!) and yesterday they even sent me dog treats and lollypop in the bag... Got here in about 2 hours too... How sweet is that?

I didn't really have an issue with long waits with CVS though. I got irritated with them because they have a commercial with this  pharmacist going on and on about how she cuts pills up for people who can't do it for themselves very well.  HOWEVER when I asked them about that, they just tried to sell me a pillcutter and sent me on my merry way??? Nothing like the commercial....

Joonie, I mean Biscuit....will the pred kick in tonight?LOL Nice. I used to pull that kinda stuff on my mom all the time!!!

Has it happned yet? Nope. I just have Justin open them and I dump them into my pill sorter or a plastic container. *sigh*

I used to have to leave all my pill bottles open.  I can usually do it now though.

Ok I have figured out a new name for Linncn! Her "pet" name is going to be - Link

Linncn - Yes, the pred will kick in around 5 or 6 this evening. That is why I take it before I go to sleep at night, because it has time to kick in before I wake up.

I am recovering Zelda addict.  That's not where Link came from, that just came from my bros weird head.

Well, I'm off to my girls game.  If I can find her camera, I'll take pics and post them.  She's so cute in her uni!!   See y'all later

I'm going to break the good vibes for a minute here....

Justin just talked to his mom. She goes in for emergency surgery on wednesday. Why? Because the mass (now refered to officially as a tumor) has returned in her colon. UGH. She said after the surgery she is going to start radiation. That's a whole change in plans too. Justin doesn't feel like talking about it right now, and I can't blame him. It's a lot to be porcessing right now.

I just keep waiting for the big hook to come from off stage and yank me behind the curtain. Then I can come out and take a bow and go, wasn't that a great show?? And it'll aaaaallll be over......*sigh*

 Bless your heart Katydid

Yeah Link why don't you rub it in bout posting picts

Yes it will Katy and theres not one thing you can do about her. You can be there for Justin and thats exactly what you are doing so try not to worry about anything else. STRESS IS NOT GOOD

Thank you ma'am. I just had to get that off my chest. Shew.

Now, for something completely different.... *que the Monty Python Music*

(((katie))) I'm sending hugs to Justin as well. It's hard to watch our parents get sick and deal with their illnesses. They don't always choose the treatments that we would choose for them, but ultimately, it's their life and their choice of treatment. I remeber when my grandpa had his stroke, my mother was so ANGRY with him because he refused pt, speech therapy, medication etc. He passed away not long after unnecessarily (in her mind). It took lots of talking to convince her that her anger was misplaced. My Grandpa was a carpenter, deep sea diver, and very active. Suddenly he was bedridden. I told her that is not the way he wanted to live, and it was selfish of her to expect that he would continue on just for her.

I'm not sure if I am making sense here, but please come vent as much as you need. We are here for you...

You make perfect sense Deb. I think the frustration right now, is that we were all prepared for her to NOT take treatment, and now she is. Bah. As I said to Karen earlier....

Hello emotional rollercoaster! How are you? You want me to ride? Okay, but only ONE go this time!!!

*rolls eyes* I just want a normal day!

Yeah finally did it!! Nobody laugh OK

DAMNIT I'M AT WORK AND I CAN'T VIEW PICTURES!!

Waaaaahhhh!!!!! I shall look at them tonight when I get home *sigh*

I see what Mo'Nana looks like!!!! and she does not look like a Nana to me

Katie - I am sorry, but happy to hear she is going to give radiation a chance anyways. Hugs to you and Justin.

I know why I was hurting soo bad! Because it is fixing to come a big thunder storm. Hubby said it is cooled off outside and lightning in the distance and really dark looking. So... I am guessing if it was not for the change in the weather I would not have been soo bad off just for skipping my pred last night.

I get to start on 30mg of pred for 3 days and one less pill every 3 days until I am back to 5mg. Nice! Maybe then I can get some house work done and actually have energy to do it, and be able to do it without much pain. YAY 4 pred

I regularly comment on news articles and the editors blog for our local paper (they have an online version) and today, the editor replied to one of my comments. TEE-HEE. It was a simple comment, and a simple reply, but it's a huge ego kick for me, because he *never* replies to people!!! Well, that was certainly worth waiting for Mona. Lovely looking family you have.  Wow!!  The photos are lovely. Your son is almost as good looking as mine,

Man, I do not even read out local newspaper. Not much going on. I did however go to the online version of the paper to see if they had an article on this little boy that died last week. But all they had was his obituary in there.

He was 7 years old, we know is family because his daddy use to come in to the store in-laws owned and so did his grandpa. Anyways... the little boy was out playing with his friends and got hit upside the head with a golf club that one of his friends swung and accidentally hit him in the head.

His mom took him to the dr office and they done a concusion test on the boy, and he did not seem to have a concusion so they let him go home. Well, he died in his sleep a day later. They said he had fluid on the brain from a crack in his skull.

Tuesday, on my way to my RD appointment we met the funeral procession to go and bury him in our cities cemetery. There was a LONG line of cars we waited like 10 mins and then hubby said we could not wait no longer otherwise we would be late for my appointment. So we got back on the road and headed on.

Makes me sad. That he died. I did not know the little boy, but I feel for his daddy. I know his daddy. He is a nice guy.

LOL

I ALWAYS log myself as Arris Colwell

Oh Joonie that's so sad :( We've had a few different kids die this year by drowning. I don't know why that's the big thing this year, but it seems it's the trend...

Wow....I was gone for 90 minutes and look what happens.

Katie....I hope the surgery goes well and that the radiation works.  My g-ma always said that if something should happen to her, she wanted no heroics.  But when she had her heart attack (which eventually killed her) she was totally singing a different tune. I bet it's pretty common for a person to change their thinking when the reality of their death is right up in their face like that.  I hope she didn't wait too long.

Mona.....you are a fraud!!  Yes, a fraud I say!  You play it up like you are little ol' granny when really you are young and beautiful

My daughter's game was canceled due to the doom that is passing through our skys.  At least that's what my mom thinks.  She called my cell warning me of the oncoming storm and demanding that I get home NOW. Then practically hanging up on me so she could call and "warn the others".  The storm does look like a nasty one though.  Maybe Shannon's tornados have moved on to the great state of Michigan!

Woo Katie we have an up and coming Lois Lane in the making

Thanks for the compliments on the pict joonie and Kiwi Oh and I guess you figured out that Breanna is my daughter, Emmas mom, dad is so paranoid he wont let me post Emmas picts
Mona.....you are a fraud!!  Yes, a fraud I say!  You play it up like you are little ol' granny when really you are young and beautiful
Link! That is what I am sayin!

Thanks but I am no fraud I have gained 20lbs since that was taken

LOIS LANE IS THE BOMB!

Awww.... that is why you are my Mo'Nana!! Philsbury makes some good Biscuts

Link- yes I am feeling good still, neck still outta whack, but I can touch my chin to my chest, but I cannot tilt my head to the sides very good yet. The burning shoulder blades, well... it is a mild fire now.

Well, I am going to go watch my movie, 28 Days Later. I will be back hopefully. If not talk to ya'll tomorrow, and have a good night.

By the way, I love the Pillsbury Dough Boy!

' G/nite Joonie biscuit

I swear you sound like your in a major fibro flare

Joonie says your shoulder blade issue is directly related to your neck issue. *speaking from experience here*

new RD seems to think it is from Fibro. So it is 50/50

AW Shucks Karen now I'm embarassed

Amen Sista!!!! I am a non entity without my make-up

oh and I am very proud to be a hillbilly

Moana, the pictures were great and so worth the wait.  Those posts about pictures made me crazy.....I couldn't read them after the first couple.  I don't know how you and Karen kept it going.  Son is one good looking dude and you're quite a goodlooking hillbilly.

Joonie, am glad you're doing better or maybe not now with the storm coming in.  The Pred pack should help you a lot.  Be good tonight.

Katie, I really feel for you and Justin.  It's so hard when a parent is ill and you're far away.  I was 3,000 miles from my parents, so I know what you're going through.  I was never able to get there in time. Justin will talk when he's ready, he's processing, and trying to decide what he can do.  Give him lots of hugs.

Am off to the kitchen.  Lindy

My accent can go either way. Put me on the phone with Liz and I'm a NOORRTTTHHHEEERRRRNNN GIRLIE! Sit me at the hotel desk for an hour and I sound like I'm from Alabama.

That's how it goes when you're a military brat! You learn to blend in!

Thats so true Katie but what amazes me is someone like Dr House who is from England can talk with a perfect American accent. he sounds so funny when he's on a talk show... all English accent.

Yeah really, you'd never know it would ya?

He sounded so weird on Letterman I had  to look twice

For a guy who could be my dad...........

I think he's sexy but his psyco jerky attitude is gettin on my nerves. And how come all the rarest forms of deadly illnesses are a daily thing to him and he solves them all

I love that show! It is quite a bit over the top though. Just a little. But come on, would you watch it otherwise? Would you watch ANY show otherwise???

That's what I always say when my husband makes fun of Jack Bauer (the coolest guy in tv land)  who would ever watch 24 if nothing big was gonna happen?  Of course it's way over the top, that's WHY it's such a cool show.

I think he needs to have sex with Cameron and then he will be all sweet and mushy, yeah right

Ohhh big storm outside, wind is blowing HARD!!! I'm Scared

LINK 24 is the number one best show ever to hit TV

Okay, we live semi-normal lives....I just thought about all the posts going around about when it rains it pours...........so some of us could have our own show......lol

MONA

And really, who DOESN'T love Keifer????????????

Okay, I'm outie. Work is over!!! See you girlies later after my dinner!!!

Nope, not a fan of House or Keiffer.  Want me some Johnny Depp for my boy toy.  But for a more mature love, I still adore my Robert Redford, wrinkes, warts and all.  The twinkle in those eyes. . .

Robert Redford is one of my favs too Karen and Johnny Depp I drool over. Did you ever see him in Cry Baby? I love that movie

ALL RIGHT GIRLFRIENDS cough up some picts!! Me and Katie have so go for it

Wooo what a storm we just had, turned on the weather radio and all kind a warnings blaring, 70+mpr hr winds, golf ball size hail, dangerous lightning, heavy rains! it was so scary!! Me and Poochie sat on the stair landing and watched through the door. She was scared to death poor thing. My other nut job dog wouldn't come in the house, stayed on the carport barking at the thunder

We had scary looking storm clouds, but it was all bark, no bite.  I was kinda looking forward to a big, fresh smelling, wind blowing, hard raining storm too.  A bit disappointed, I must say.  Glad you and your little dogs survived yours

I just strung and broke some fresh half runners my sister gave me. Any you fellow hillbilly's know what that is?

Sure would like to see some other's picts. I know Linda you only have a camera phone

Thanks Brisen, uhhh didn't you see my dark roots

My mom makes me a huge pot whenever I come to visit!

What the heck's a half runner????

  Fat Back Lindy

Moana, you're answering me in your last post but I haven't posted yet.....OMG the womans a psyic (sp)  you know what I mean.  Lindy

That was ME not Lindy that asked!

My mom tried to be healthy once and used turkey bacon, and some salt substitute.  I almost cried!

Waaaaah! I don't know what half runners OR fat back is! I only speak and understand Californian!  LOL

 Halfrunners are green beans

And buy the way there was s friend

Brisen~ because they TASTE better duh! You'd never make it as a southern girl

Sorry Karen I had a mental breakdown for a minute

Half runners are the best greenbean in the world, some Kentuckians would argue over their Kentucky Wonders but not even close

HuH Chris are you dopey? You didn't make a lick of sense

ghanalove

Brisen- fat back grease and bacon grease are close, bacon is a little leaner and comes from the side of a pig where its leaner, fatback is strictly from the fat of a pigs back that has no lean. I use mostly streaked meat to season with which is a combo of the two.

Lin your right about the half runners, we also raise pole beans that are about a foot long and really good too, and peanut beans, their bean inside is brown, not white like usual green beans . I like a lot of shellies in my beans, thats, beans that have gotten too big and their bean is about the size of a pinto.

Chris - You didn't take all 6 percocet's at once did you??And she's back!!! Don't everyone get up at once...

Mo-Nana you're beautiful!! So are your kids!!!

Can we go ONE NIGHT without talking about hillbilly cooking? I mean really....

Chris you're scaring us!!! Go wash your face and maybe call someone

That's scary!!!

Hillbilly cooking is a foreign language to me.  :(I understand Brisen.  Our families grew up poor, I mean poor.  And food was really an important part of their life, and sometimes lack of food.  So it's food that comes from the land, and the farm.  And the kind that will "put meat on yer bones".

   Hi Katydid we missed you

How's Justin, hope he's good now

He is much better, thanks for asking!! And shush. You are beautiful!!! Yes, Mona. Katie's right...take the compliment!

Karen you hit the nail on the head. I look back and I know we were poor but we had food in abundance because of the farm and animals. It wasn't a working farm that we sold stuff, it was just mom and dad working like a trojan to feed 8 people, share with neighbors, and other relatives..

 AWW thanks Katie and Brisen

So what would be everybodies very favorite foods? Since we were all raised in different places and times whats the norm for ya'll?

I LIVE on beans, rice, and veggies. Give me a big ol' bean, cheese, and veggie burrito and I'm a happy camper!! Mac N Cheese (when I used to be able to have it) Keilbasa and baked beans.

Seriously. FAVORITE meal mom used to make. Hard to pick your absolute favorite food.  I have a friend whos fave is cream of wheat.  I always thought that was so weird.

Well this was not from my childhood by any means, but I love Lobster Thermidor!

And anything with mushrooms!

Mmmmmmm, mushrooms! The Claim Jumper has absolutely THE BEST portabella mushroom sandwich!!

Sheeww Linda, cream of wheat is nasty! I guess to each his own. I asked for food, favorite meal .. Mine is a ribeye steak m/w, baked potato and salad with ranch dressing! YUM!

Really I am very versatile when it comes to food, I like almost anything, except liver

i LOVE cream of wheat......lol

single fav food? pistachios. does that count???

Gotta go  for a few mins, ds wants the computer for a few mins.

Moana....great looking family!!  You are so pretty!!!!

OOooooo I LOVE LOVE LOVE cream of wheat too!!!  Especially in the winter time.

Chris...take it easy on those percs there buddy lol.

Ok the warden is home...wonder how much longer i will get to be here lol.

LOL okay, fair enough!!! I'll figure it out tomorrow.  I have to go to sleep, gotta be up at 6,  Night to all, hope it's a good one Night!!!!! Now when is Mo-Nana coming back?!??! Nite Linda! No! Not Linda, LINK!!

 I'm back children, whats up?

Thanks Gramma for the complimentLizzie went to bed. Or at least she got offline. Her hubby came home from work and told her she needed to be resting!! If my hubby tried that he would be wearing a shoe - not on his foot!LOL May I have a guess? Would it be up his @$$?????

LOL my hubby goes to bed early and has no clue what I do

Alright it's my turn to bail. Taking this Flexeril at night is really kicking my butt!!!  Hugs n Kisses!!!!

Have a good nights sleep!

You still around Moana, Brisen???

UMMM my beans smell so good cooking....I can't wait for dinner tomorrow

 Well they're not done yet

And I'm wondering about RAJay too - where has he been?  He wasn't feeling great the other day.

Yeah I was thinking about Crris too, and there is not one thing we can do to help. He was pretty out of it. Jay I think posted this morning and said he had to take his daughter to college...I think that was today.

Oh yeah, that's right!  Brain fade!

So do you just have one grandchild Moana?

Well my muscle relaxer has kicked in and I can't even type right. I hate typo's, but I'm getting better at overlooking them LOl Think I'm going to bed now, gotta put my beans in the fridge ,if I don't eat them half cooked

nite Moana.

No I have 2 more but it's complicated. John Michah is 4 and Madilyn was 1 the 13th of this mth. I kind of raised a girl, distant relative, a couple yrs older than Breanna, Then she went back and forth between real mom(deadbeat) and me for years, Anyways things are a little strained right now and I don't get to see the babies as often as I'd like. I love them and her but real mom is a jelous pain in the butt! Thats just the jist of the story but it hasn't been good for a while. I am invited to Madi's bday party Saturday so thats good

COME BACK COME BACK I'm not through

I thought you were gone!  I'm sorry Moana!

 I think I said I was LOL, I'm a little loopy

Lindy came back and got mad and left

Sorry it's been hard to see your other grandchildren - it must be breaking your heart.

It is hard and I do see them at church and about once a week Miranda will bring them by. I can't baby sit them anymore by myself and I think I hurt her feelings. But I can't even hold a baby long with my fibro and neck problems (sigh)

I understand.  It is so unfair all the things that get taken away by pain! I know but it could be worse. Well I think I will head to bed for real this time. G/nite talk to ya tomorrow
