Has anyone tried these shoes for working out?

Also what kind of physical activity do you do to stay in shape?  I have always love staying in shape, (i love running) but since I have been diagnosed 1.5 years ago, I haven't really done much.  My youngest is finally at the age that I can take her to the day care at the gym.  I went this week, but sadly it must have been too much.  my family was just sick with food poisoning my 3 yo started everyday preschool and I started exercising.  Well that added up to a huge flare up!  Anyway, I really want to start doing something when I get better.  I am not a good swimmer, so I cna't do that!  Please share!  thanks!!!

I havent tried those exact shoes but I do have a pair of NB shoes that i used when i did the Breast Cancer walk 2 summers ago and they are AWESOME!! I absolulty love them.  The people in the NB stores are really great and listen to what your needs are, they really know their product and which is better for each individual need.  With regards to exercising.  Go SLOW.  I know is hard to do cause (sometimes) when your first doing it you think oh this is easy and keep going and push yourself and you end up paying for it later.  Do a little bit at time and work your way up.  If you start to feel it, stop!  Sorry to hear about the food poisening, hope everyone is better now. Also...YAY for preschool!!!  Even though your not a good swimmer, there are water programs at the local Y or hospital that you can take that you can do in the heated pool.  Check your local arthritis group and see if they offer anything.

Oh, I forgot...Welcome to AI!!! Glad you found us

Oh yes, I have learned my lesson.  Slow it is!  I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, it just felt so good to do it!!  I didn't know there were NB stores!  I wonder if there are any near by?  Off to check and off to check!! thanks!

I have custom made insoles so I don't need to pay a fortune for the shoe itself.  I just bought a pair of Ryka's but it has been to hot to wear an enclosed shoe.Catnip, where did you get custome insoles made?  That sounds wonderful!!!

I bought a pair of New Balance about 2 weeks ago. Because the crocs where hurtin my feet when I was on them for a period of time. And I made my hubby stop at a shoe store to buy me a pair of tennis shoes. I went straight for the new balance shoes, I ususally go after sketchers, but I needed something lighter on my feet. I like them. They are comfortable and it seems to take my feet a little longer before they start to ache if I am on them for a long time. They feel so soft under my feet.

I've had the New Balance 587's. They were terrible for me and I've got 2 others from New Balance that I cannot wear either, they are just too hard with not much for cushion. I don't wear New Balance anymore. I get shoes from my foot doctor.

I do yoga 3 times a day...about 1 hr total, and I walk 3 times a day, 3-4 miles total.  It really works well.  It's low impact and involves lots of stretching to keep the muscles in shape around the joints.

Hi Kylie, haven't tried those particular shoes.  I have a pair of Nikes that I use when I'm exercising and they're pretty comfortable.

I just started walking a 1/2 mile.  I also do pool exercises at the Y and want to start on the on the ellipitical bike maybe next week.  I just had knee replacement 5 weeks ago so I'm going gently back into exercising.  My favorite is the pool.  I overdid yesterday and I'm paying the price today.  Not a flare, but my surgical leg is really painful. I've been quiet today but I'll go back tomorrow.  Gotta keep going.  Lindy

Lindy - I'm looking at two knee replacements, probably after the first of the year. I just want to tell you that you have been such an inspiration for me! You have done soooooo incredibly well, and not once have we heard you even complain!

Thanks for the replies!

Cheesehead, sorry you didn't like the shoes, I am really hoping that I can find something at a local store, so I don't have to buy online! It sounds like other people like them, so I hope they work for me!!!

Yoga!, I have never tried it, but I know that it supposed to help with stress, I should get on it!  I did have a chance to stop by the Y earlier and grab a fall schedule book.  It looks like they have lots of stuff as far as pool exercises go!  Cool!

Lindy, thanks for the encouragements, that is awsome that you are going again after five weeks!  Amazing!!!
