I was having a hard time with the old mop and bucket, so decided to get something newer. After checking out several different types of mops, I settled on a Swiffer Wetjet. After I got home, I decided to try it out. I carefully took it out of the box and then followed the instrucations and pictures showing how to put it together. I lined up the pole, inserted the batteries, placed the solution bottle in the holder, and added the pad to the cleaning head. I turn the thing around and the pole fell apart! It wasn't on tight enough. Took care of that problem and was good to go.
Hobbled into the kitchen, sweep the floor, and then push the button on the wetjet. All that happen was a clicking noise. Took the solution bottle out to see if that was the problem. Reinserted the bottle and, again, pushed the button. Click. click. Next, I checked the batteries. They were lined up right but I push on them to make sure that they were making contact. Close the battery compartment and pushed the button. Click, Click! Went to the store and got 4 new batteries. Placed those in. Push button, Click, Click. I just looked at it and told it,"I'll give you click, click right into the dumpster." Talk about feeling stuipd!!
The next day, I called the company to see what they were going to say. The service rep. had me check the pole, batteries, and the solution bottle. I also told her that I DID read the instrucations. All it did was go Click,Click. By this time, I had her laughing with my little comments to the wetjet. After placing me on hold, she came back on line and informed me that I would get a coupon for a new one. The motor was defectived. She was still laughing when I told her to have a nice day.
I'm just hoping that this new one will work. It was so easy for me to hold and move around the floor.
I love the wetjet. It sure beats using a mop and bucket!
I have to tell you about another use for a Swiffer Wet Jet. One year for our Haunted House we had a snake charmer, and a cobra that would come up out of the basket. We wanted it to spit at the crowd, so I took my Swiffer WetJet apart and rigged up the squirting mechanism to my rubber cobra! It worked really well, except when the spray from the snake hit an uplight we had illuminating the scene, causing the lightbulb to explode!!! Of course the crowd thought it was supposed to happen, LOL.
LOL KAREN
See marisa, wet jets rock. And not just 'cause they clean!!
