What should be duration of Enbrel treatment for RA? Is it forever? My mom is given an injection every week. If she keeps on taking it for months & years, will the effect of medicine wear out? At my last doctor's appointment, I asked my rheumy how long he thought Enbrel would continue to be effective for me. He said that I should anticipate that it will continue working indefinitely. He has quite a few patients who have been on it for a number of years and that it is still very effective for them.
I do know from reading posts here and elsewhere though, that it often does stop working for people though.
Personally, I've been using Enbrel for almost a year now, and it is still quite effective for me. I'm hoping that will continue for quite a while!

After 18 months of using Enbrel I am giving up on it. Had major flares now at least once a month the last 3 months. Am just getting by on the Enbrel, metho, prednisone combo. What next???
