Another question, how often is it typical to have x rays taken of joints? My RD took x rays of pretty much all my joints upon diagnosis about 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Not since. I have also heard that MRI's can be more telling if the damage is not severe, thoughts?OOOps, I meant X Rays, not "ex"I think I remember people saying xrays ones a year.  I haven't been doin the o'l RA thing for that long yet, so I can't say from personal experience.i had a full body bone scan when i first diagnosed 4 years ago but my rheumy hasnt asked for any since. but about 6 months ago i was in a lot of pain directly in the elbow joints wrists and knees so my local gp sent me for normal xrays. when i told my rheumy she said they are a waste of time as the full body bone scan is whats needed. next time i see her i will ask about having one done.

hands and feet every 1-2 years or as needed.  Other joints only as needed

Just ask your dr about it at the next appt

Well, good thing their are others here that actually know what they are talking about.  Sorry for the wrong information
