First Rituximab Infusion | Arthritis Information

Share

I just got a call from my rheumy's office to say my first infusion is organised for Wednesday 5th September. Oooooh.

I am not sure how I feel about it. Part of me just wants to get on with it because hopefully it works and the other part is scared because it is all such a big thing.

So here I go on a new adventure.... Well done Cordy, you had to get some good news eventually!!!

You never know, I might be there with you yet?????  Best of luck Janie. Well, that would be so much more fun than sitting there on my own.

Cordy,

It's completely normal to have conflicting emotions like that.  I'm glad that it's all set up for up for you.  I will pray that this new medicine works for you.  Glad to hear you have no more stress in your life surrounding things breaking.  Hopefully this is the end of the run of bad luck.

Hugs,

Steph

Cordy~ Hope the Rituximab works well for you.  Good luck always comes, its just a little slow on knowing when to appear.  Let us know how it went and how you are feeling afterwards.

Good luck next Wednesday!

Cordy,

Is that a light atthe end of the tunnel?

I hope all goes well and gives you some relief.

Good luck Wednesday Cordy! Hopefully things are turning around for the better for ya. I sure hope and pray so

Hey Cordy, it's about time somethiing positive has turned up.  I felt the same way, I dreaded the idea of the medication but was looking forward to it at the same time.  I think most of us feel that way about the biologics.  It's that old love/hate thing.  Keep sight of possible pain free days.  LindyGood luck to you.  And, as a side note, be patient.  I just started to notice a change in symptoms and finished the Rituxan therapy July 19th.

Pat

Good Luck Cordy!  Don't be discouraged if you don't feel results immediately.  I have had two seperate rounds of two infusions.  So I have been on Rituxan (Rituxamab)for about a year and 5 months now.  Almost time for my next round.

What I like to tell new users is that it takes a little time for this drug to chase away the bad guys (at least it did for me).  So don't get upset if you aren't all better right after the infusions.  It most likely will work, but it can take up to 3 months for some people to get a really good result. My sed rate and CRP went back to normal ranges after 6 weeks on the 2nd go round.

I still have pain.  Nothing will take it all away, but pain meds can help to manage the residual pain that we all have due to damage before the meds that help.

Excellent!!   Hope it goes well Cordy.

Cordy, I'm so glad they finally got it set up for you! I understand your mixed emotions, too.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us know how it went as soon as you can.

Hugs & Blessings,

Nini

Thanks everyone. I haven't answered until now as I got a bout of gastro and have been sleeping all day.

Crispy I really appreciate that information from you and Npat. It is really hard to know what to expect with a new drug but both of you have had good results but have also said it took time.

I will be okay, once I have actually done the process once. I will then know what to expect.

It is just so a 'big' deal too. I have had to organise care for Neve because he infusion takes so long I won't be back in time for school finishing. I have also had to organise a driver especially since the hospital I am going to is an hour away.

And Mona, I think your comment was spot on. Both myself and my Mom have felt strongly this will work for me and prior to the RD deciding on it, it kept popping up in various ways in my life. And when I went to my appt I was pretty sure this was where he was going to go. It feels right somehow so I know it will be okay.
Hi Cordy, I'm pleased it feels right for you, and I'm hoping that your instincts are spot on!!   You are well due for a break and solid hope!
All the best for next week.
