Two moons on 27 August

Planet Mars is coming closer to the earth and will be the brightest planet in our night sky starting in August.

It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. It will
maximize on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth.

Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am. It will look like
the earth has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this close is in
2287.

Sorry but this isn't all true. You can see Mars, but it will not be as big as the moon. That would actually be pretty scary, as the only way that's possible is if our solar system was outa-whack!!! Their's gonna to be a lunar eclipse tonight.  That should be pretty sweet.Yeah and they said that the east coast isn't going to be able to see it NOT FAIR!!!! *sob* Sorry Katie.  I tell ya all about it though. I'll tell you what's not fair, I missed it cos it was too cloudy!!  Bummer.  It was a nice day all day, and a neat sunset, but then it started to cloud over, and got cloudier & cloudier.   Then it started to rain.  So I hope that you guys get it a bit better than I did.  Good luck moon watchers! Too bad Jeanne!  I hate it when that happens.Umm - I think I'm a bit thick.  Was the Mars thingie 27th, and Lunar Eclipse tonight (28th for me).  Well, I know I must be, cos I've just seen in the morning paper here (28th) to watch for the eclipse tonight.

All's all academic though, because unless we have a big wind to blow all the rain clouds away I'm still not going to see anything anyway.

But I hope you guys get a good shot at it!!

That explains it better than I can.

Weather was no good in Wellington, but I saw it on the news from Auckland.

I am watching the lunar eclipse now. Its awsome ,so dark and the whole moon is glowing red.
NOVA SCOTIA CANADA

was up early this a.m. but didn't see MOONS, it was clear, we were on the other side of the building, didn't think neighbors would appreciate an early morning visitor...

Oh well, won't be around for another  BUT WILL CONTINUE TO MOON WATCH ANYWAY.

rose  Rose, try your moon watch again tonight - it's on the night of the 28th.   And I see that you've posted this at 6am.  We're a bit ahead of you down here - for me in NZ it's now 1.45am Wednesday 29th, and it began about 8.20pm last night for us.  I missed it because of the cloudy weather, but if you have a clear night tonight, it should be all go for you. rose it will only be one moon. It's a lunar eclipse.  As long as you are on the west cost, you can see it. The east coast will not. Apparently, we saw the last one..........which I missed.
