Kidneys & Pred & Inflammation | Arthritis Information

Ok so I am taking like 25mg of pred. Well since being on this high amount of pred, I do not have much inflammation. I can actually see my bones, which is not an everyday thing for me. But nice to see knee caps are somewhat in their place

Anyways... I have been having what feels like my kidneys hurting since my 3rd bladder infection. And you would think it would go away after antibiotics, right? Well, no, it did not.

So my last round of antibiotics and my kidneys still hurt. I told my GP that and she said she felt it was just muscle spasms. I do not think it is.

So, here I am on 25mg of pred, and my kidneys do not hurt! SO, why would a high dose of pred make my kidney's not hurt? Is it because they were inflammed or being attacked by RA or maybe even Lupus?

Or could it be that the pred is masking my kidney pain? I am not sure. I have not really had no pain since my 3rd round of 30mg of pred. I have not even needed to take a muscle relaxer, which I probably should take, but I still do get my shoulder blades feeling like they are on fire, even with the high amount of pred. Probably do have fibro.

Any ideas on why my kidneys are not hurting now that I am on a high dose of pred?

I know my kidneys do not hurt because of IC, as my bladder was hurting a little last night because I have not took my Amitritylin in a couple of days.

Maybe it's not your kidneys after all. Maybe it's something in your back that's giving you trouble?

I don't know....wild guess.

Maybe, I was just thinking that pred was masking my pain. I mean... I have not had much pain anywhere for a couple of days now. I was just trying to think of if it was worth mentioning to my RD when I see her again.

It probably has something to do with my back. My spine curves to the right, I have some kinda scoliosis. *shurgs shoulders*

Thanks for the reply Lovie. Hope you are doing well.

I hope mine isn't every my kidney's because I always chalk it up to just another random back problem. I have disk problems as well as arthritis problems in my back. I would think an MRI or some x-rays at least might help ease your mind some. I finally went to see an back specilist and he ordered the MRI after seeing the x-rays.

Any word back on your labs from your last visit? Can they rule out lupus?

No they have not faxes my labs to me yet, I guess I am going to call tomorrow and see if they got them in and if they are ready to give me an appt for my first Remicade drip.Really hope all goes well for you joonie! and hope that appointment is very soon! This kind of pain is horrible.  Thanks Amazonian
