My rhuemy prescibed this to me for inflamation and pain and

i have learned things from all you that unfortunatley suffer the

same as me. for your knowledge and experiences thank you.

you are a wonderful group of people.

Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-infalmmatory drug (NSAID) also know as Voltaren, and is commonly used in the treatment of arthritis. I happen to be allergic to it, so I take Lodine instead.

Again, WELCOME!!

Hello Darrel

for a little while i have never seen anyone else taking this

just me bothered me a little. guess just a little paranoid

hope you have a pain free evening. [QUOTE=darrel]

thank you for you kindness i have been reading posts

Diclofenac is an NSAID, stronger than ibuprofen but not as controversial as cox-2 inhibitors. It reduces swelling and pain. I took it for a while and it was useful but I think my arthritis became too severe and I now take etoricoxib (one of the newer cox-2 inhibitors). i hope this helps...

Welcome Darrel,

I don't know this medication but I see others have already answered.  I just wanted to say welcome to the board.

Thanks for the warm welcome and your answers from what i

have read the dicoflenac and tramadol do about the same thing

unless i am misreading something which is possible. my rheumy has

had me on 2 tramadol 50 mg 4x daily,2 dicoflenac 2x daily,

prednisone 4x daily, methotrexate 8x 1 a week, and folic acid,

most of them made since the last 5 months to me, but the 2 that's

alike. thank you have a pain free day to all.

The Diclofenac and Tramadol are two different kinds of meds...the Diclofenac is an anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling and inflammation while the Tramadol is a pain reliever.  Tramadol is an opiate agonist which changes how the body senses pain.  It is a much stronger med than the Diclofenac.

I took the Diclofenac a few years ago and it was helpful for awhile but now I am taking Relafen (Nabumetone) instead.  I take Tramadol (or Ultracet) sometimes instead of my Vicodin ES to change it up a little, but the Tramadol isn't as strong.

I hope your meds are working well for you and relieving your pain.

Thank you now that makes sense to me, just like anyone else

i have my days. suppose to start humira in 2 weeks hope it does

to me what i have heard most of you say it has done for you.

THANK YOU

I use diclofenac drops for my eyes

Tramadol & Diclofenac are definately two different meds. I took Voltran years ago; but it's just an NSAID. For the past few years I've preferred to take OTC Advil or IUB in large doses and control the dose myself. Sometimes I'll take two sometimes I'll take four. Depends on my situation at the time. I also take Tramadol as needed for pain.

It's my opinion that if you need all the medications you've described there needs to be an adjustment in your DMARD. It's obvious from the amount of pain medication and the anti-inflammatories prescribed you are on as well as the predisone that your RA is not under control. You've got a LOT of wiggle room and lots of other options with DMARDS. Why aren't they being explored? Your MTX alone could be increased and if that isn't helpful another could be added.

I don't mean to act as if I know everything or for one minute understand your situation.....but I have been doing this for a long time. I know that if the proper DMARD or combination is found the need for daily, continuous predisone and pain medication around the clock won't be nessesary.

SORRY; I now see where you are starting Humira. That's great. Hopefully this will be very helpful.

kelstev and lovie thank you and no you don't come across rude

or you think you know everything you are right i have been fighting

with this for just 1 year but was just dx and started seeing a

rheumy just for 5 months.so we are still working on what i need

he just seen how inflamed i was and how much pain i was in that is

why i am on so much right now. from all the stories i have read i

think i got lucky with my rhuemy he talks and answers any question

i might have. have a wonderful day!
