Hi

I have just been put on this yesterday as a first time attempt of medication - plus i am weaning off prednisilone too at same time.

I am curious too like you so i will be watching your message to see if any helpful replies!

take care

Delgent;

I'm not even sure what this medication is; but if it's not taking away your pain and stiffness and you've been on it more than several months by all means insist on a change in medication.

There are lots of medications that will take away pain and stiffness. Years ago when I was first dx I used Sulfersaline and then eventually added plaquenil. These are more than just pain medications. Lots of things can be tried. Not everything works well for everyone.

I've lived with RA for more than 11 years now. I'm currently taking Methotrexate (Or MTX as we refer to it here) and Humira. These are considered pretty strong treatments. I did however go for years on much less invasive medications. Please talk to your doctor.

With RA and proper medications you should be able to live with fairly little pain. Please don't misunderstand me. It is a painful disease at times, but work with a doctor to get on the proper treatment.

Welcome to our group. Try the RA forum. There's lots of folks there that will have lots of ideas for you to share with your doctor. Try posting your question there,

Hello!

I am new here!

I too take diclofenac or Voltarol as it is known as its trade name.

I have only been taking onex 25mg of the diclofenac a day, two if I am desperate because I am afraid of the side effects.

I also have to take a painkiller with it in the form of cocodamol but I can only take one of those at a time otherwise I cannot stay awake!

So...now they have condemned ibuprofen, volatarol, indomethacin (which I had taken previously) and most other anti-inflammatory drugs.  They have criticised the use of codeine. Now they have condemned paracetamol for its role in raising blood pressure.

Now what are we supposed to do?  I can't live with the pain if I don't take any medication but the risks are so high with heart attacks and/or strokes.

What do you think?
