Pain in my bum | Arthritis Information

Some of you know that i have chronic bronchitis and intrinsic asthma with my RA so i can't take several types of drugs cuz they make me sick.

Well, i tried this one and that one and nothing worked, only made me far worse.  My doc ignores me etc.

I finally got the nurse on the phone asking what to do next, and they told me to wait 2 more months until my next appt and they will talk then.

I had to go to my family doctor to get back on prednisone (only one that works, just get menstral cycles that won't stop if i use too long, but it fixes after off for a while) and he thankfully put me back on so i could actually live between appointments.

I hate my rhummy and the nearest other one is 3hrs a way.

it's just not fair.  Shouldn't they be trying to find a drug that works?  They give me heavy breathing etc. when i tell them i can't take something.  Like it is my fault my body swells up like a balloon, my breathing gets worse etc.

Just not fair, thanks for letting me vent.

Aw Bubba - I'm sorry that you are going thru this.  But I don't have any magic answers for you - I wish I did!!   So I'm just sending you a couple of hugs instead.  Hope you get some relief soooooon!! Thanks, it is always nice to have a place to go and just vent away :)  Especially a place where people know what it is like to be frustrated with this disease.

Hi Bubba, oh that is the worst not having a choice of RA doctors! i don't know what to tell you. We only have 2 in our area and I hate the one I don't go to...so if my doc left I'd be in a terrible fix.

Is it possible to go to the doc with specific requests like" I want prednisone' I need to have this swelling go down. I want relief from this pain!! and keep calling and repeating this if they don't help you?

My doc has had a call from me every week for 3 months, sometimes twice a week.  Finally, i made it through a week without calling. With this remicade (600) and 20mgs of mtx, and prednisone from 5 to 10 whenever I NEED it, I'm doing better.

I bug them all the time!! Lynda

I think Lynda has a great suggestion. Bug them until they do something for you or switch to the one further away. Sometimes it is worth the hassle. Hugs! I hope you feel better. For me it is worth the hassle of the drive, but it is only an hour or so.  I guess I would continue to bug them or maybe have your GP's nurse call them.  If they have more of a history with you, I would have your GP's nurse call and tell them what they are doing to you.  Sometimes Doctors speak a different language.  IDK...that is the best I can think of.  I don't know what it is about ra dr's but the one's I have been to have the personality of a doorknob. I am thinking about changing ra dr's also. But, I am sticking with this one until I see if I like this new one first. I have an appointment in Sept. with the new one. He is pretty far away but the one I have now gives you 10 minutes and never calls you back if you need pain med or questions. My advice if you are not satisfied shop around even if you have to drive further. But someone on here gave me some good advice.... Keep the one you have and make an appointment with the new one, try them out and see if you like them, and if you do, drop the old one, and if you don't keep you appointment with  your old ra dr. No one will ever know....
