I'd be interested to know how many of you have other positive blood tests apart from ESR, and do they mean anything? I had a few positives in mine, but none of them either support or exclude a diagnosis of PMR, and none of them, according to the doc, are very interesting or meaningful at all! lol. Although all the negatives and normals excluded lots of other diseases. I had Antinuclear Antibodies positive at 80 with diffuse pattern, high IgM Immunoglobulins, low creatine kinase, and positive thyroid microsmal antibodies at 1600 (but normal range TSH and T4). I've looked them all up and know what they CAN mean, but in my case they appear to be meaningless!
says the CRP should be replacing the ESR. Mine was normal, but after a
month on pred.
