UGGGG so i got my new shipment of Humira today and the dr had to send them a new precription for it.. and he wrote it for the pens not the other kind

air the syringes to you and you send the others right back. I start

humira in two weeks and what happend to you is one of the things

i am worried about, i will be able to give my self a shot but i am

worried i will pull away with the pens pop that it makes. i don't know

about you but i can't afford to screw this up it's not like we can run

down to the pharmacy and pick up another one for 10 bucks.

best of luck and have a pain free day

have to get use to it all of this is new to me, i have been reading all

of the posts for months it has really helped alot.

So sincerely thank you for your knowledge under the circumstances.

Have a wonderful day.

Let us know how you get on with them

I also found not seeing the needle was less scary

The pens are much easier Shannon; but make sure you have some instructions. Either in the pack or on the internet. Darrel's right. You can easily screw them up and loose the entire injection. Once you pop that button there's no turing back.

Study up and just do it. You'll likely be glad you did.

I agree, I have used both and like the pen better.  The pen goes fast so it might burn a little more but its over VERY quick.  The key is not to jerk the pain off your leg or wherever when it pops!  There is a window so you can see the medicine go in and you will know for sure when it its empty! thanks for the advice guys...i do have my RD appointmet today but id rather get advice from someone that has actually used it ya know?

I'd take it with you if you can. Let them show you how to do it.....couldn't hurt.

Just be careful as Michelle mentioned not to pull the pen away when it pops. The snapping sound will startle you. Count to 10 very slowly once you hear the pop.

Let us know how it goes.

I had a nurse watch me with the syringes, and I am sure you could have the nurses help.  I never used the pens only the syringe.

You ladies may already know this but if you go to Humira's website

and fill out just a little information they will send you a kit that has

a instructional dvd for the pen and syringe a ice pack and carrying

case for traveling and you can get a container for the waste so none

of our family members get hurt. the stuff is really nice and best of

all free. Well as much as they charge us it should be but regardless

it is nice because they don't have to help us at all but they do.

Try to have a pain free evening all.

Probably just cuz' hubby has the magic touch

Take care

Joanne

Edited to add:  Oh yea, so when I was about to take it I yelled to hubby in the other room that I was nervous and didnt want to do it (yea I can be a big baby sometimes), so Kelsay runs over by me and tells me that everything is going to be alright that she is right here with me.  It was so cute so then after I did the shot she saw it bleed a little bit and she goes and runs and gets a papertowel and puts it on where I did the shot.  It was so cute.

kelsaysmommy39325.250150463If injecting in your thigh hurts, consider doing it in your tummy instead. That's what I do, and I can barely feel it. I occasionally get a tiny bruise (if I nail a capillary), but that's about it. I tried the stomach when i was using the other needle and OMG it hurt 10 times worse for me.  Im not sure why, youd think it be better since there is more fat there I used to hate my spare tire before I started injecting Humira into it. Now I love it!!! Shannon,
I was started on the injection type enbrel and later tried the pens. I used them up but found that I liked the regular injectable type much better. My doctor switched me back to the regular ones.
The pens are so fast and for me they hurt so much. Some people are so happy with the pens. Not me.

I always get a redness about the size of a half dollar the next day after the injection but then it goes away. The nurse told me to expect that.
