I'm weaning at the moment onto Sulfa. Have had rotten headeaches for a week, my jaw is stiff, I keep having to open it to stretch it... I'm sure passers by must think I've been let out of the assylum for the day!
My eyes ache (no cold), fingers have been good for two days then this afternoon the bone aching started. Hubby asked if I was OK when I asked him why he said your cheeks are really red. Although the RA is new for me, whenever I'm in pain the cheeks go red. The fact he notices this amazes me... stomach upset from meds, acid reflux burning right round to my back, zantac not working like it used to.
Miserable to say the least. I dont like to complain because when I read some of the posts on this site, my challenges are miniscule compared to some.
Just need to moan to people who understand.
Go ahead Sahra moan all you want. We can relate! I am sorry you are having a cruddy day.
I hope you feel better soon and get to the doctor please.
Jay
Hi Ray
I'm actually going to get an appt with the nurse to see if she will give me a shot in the bum before I go on holiday. I'll be at max. weaning by week 4 which happens to be the week that I'll be heading to Portugal with the SiL, BiL, MiL.
SiL has broken a bone in her foot last week and is wearing a moon boot.
My hubby owns a taxi and has just spent the last month working nights (its the edinburgh festival for the month of august and you have to make hay whilst the sun shines), so he will sleep for the first 3 days of our break. Then there will be me, possibly being sick and not feeling brill.... cant wait!
It never rains but it poors!Wills, I don't know about you but often when I go on vacation so does my RA. Oh, the enigmas of the mind/body connection.
I'm a chatterbox, interrupt hubby all the time whilst he's trying to read the papers... maybe he'll be happy if the jaw stops working... but then again maybe not Ah.....reminiscent of Clarky14! Clarky 14?.... please expand.
Sarah, I agree with Jay I think I would call if nothing else to get something for the killer heartburn. I hate heartburn! (I am such a hypochondriac I always think I am having a heart attack!LOL). Can you call a nurse during the weekend and get a script to the chemist?
Try some warm washcloths in a baggie. If you microwave them put a tea towel around them. Try that for a little bit. I would even put a warm compress on my stomach or have some ginger soda!
Keep us posted...can I say how JEALOUS I am that you are going to Portugal. Our one and only booked trip to Spain our last Christmas in the UK and 911 happened and commander pulled ALL Holidays..bless him.
Sarah i urge to get a steroid injection before you go away on holiday .On thursday my consultant gave me a steroid injection in my wrist and in my bum he said it would tide me over till my next appointment which is 15th october . I am going away in october for a week and i am hopeful it last
I have felt alot better today they are really good
By the way Sarah i had a bit of headache ( not much )when i first started Sulfa it didnt last long so hopefully yours doesnt eitherHi shelly
I cant get a script over the weekend. You have to be dying to get an appt., or willing to spend 6 hours in A&E with the drunks from the night before.
I'll wait until Monday. I hate heartburn too. I have done the mint tea, ginger stuff for years. Zantac works but according the the info that comes with the sulfa you cant take it... so I dont know what I'm going to do. The heartburn is at its worst when its up under the right boob and round the back of the ribs... dont think its the heart
Hi gilly, i have a colleague at work who has RA, has had it for a long time. He's great to chat to and said that he plans his holidays around his shots. It came to me this afternoon that I should do the same. My last one lasted 3 weeks and it made such a difference. Glad to hear it about the headaches.Week 1 had the ache for 4 days, then it eased off. Week 2 and the headaches are huge, like someone is trying to squeeze my brain out through my ears... cant wait for it to stop. Just hope they dont get worse as I enter week 3 and 4 of the weaning process.
Ok, so put a teaspoon of baking soda in a small glass of water. Drink it down all at once and see if that will help.
Yes, I remeber that Doctors will not return phone calls on weekends.
Oh puuuuleeeease, I do that the minute I get a bladder infection and it takes me lots of stamping around the room and jumping up and down to stop me bringing it straight back up..... I just couldnt possiblyAre your jaws hurting? I hate that, because what can you really do other than take a pain pill. I do feel fortunate, though, as someone I knew used to get lockjaw to the max quite often with it.
Wishing you well
I hope you feel better soon......and have a nice trip.
