So we've found one that we really like, but I want to hear what you all think.

2003 Honda Civic 4 door - 62,000 miles, fully loaded

Dual airbags, abs breaks, front wheel drive

Dark Royal Blue - has tinted windows, but the back one is messed up, they did offer a reduction in price, and to strip it so that we can have it re-done at some point. The CD player has to be "reset" so he says. He said they put a new battery in it and never re-set it (yes, I could tell it was a new battery)

He said for the weekend holiday sale it is ,680.

Any opinions, questions??? They are closed tomorrow and monday, we told him we would come back at opening on Tuesday to see the CarFax report on it, and talk more.

Thanks guys!!!!

Honda's run and run and run.... resale in the UK for Honda's is high because they keep their value.

Re: the CD player, my MR2 does exactly the same thing. Needs resetting if the battery is unplugged. Its something to do with the immobiliser in the car. It will show you in the hand book how to do it. My code is the last 3 digits of the chassis number, you might want to ask him what the code is... because if they've changed it to a personal one and they cant remember what it is you wont be able to reset it.

Hope this blether is of some help.

Thanks, it seemed a little fishy, but not really. He said they hadn't had the time to look up the reset code. I had just never heard of that before. But he said when we come in Tuesday morning, he would have it working. (? we'll see..lol)

I'm really nervous now, because I was wanting something that was an 04 or newer, but I know that might be asking too much on only ,000. I just really don't want to get screwed, ya know?? I want to know I'm making a good buy!!!

Honda is usually a great car if you can get one at a good price.  I would check into the resetting of the CD, because that could be a huge bummer.

I am glad you are checking CARFAX.  I say go for it as long as it is reasonably priced!

Well Justin is pretty convinced he can talk the guy down even more. Kelly Blue Book retail price for the car is ,000 in "EXCELLENT" condition. Which they say that not even 5% of used cars are considered. Soooo the 11 they want for it is pretty average, and from there Justin says he wants to try to talk him down to 10ish. If I got it for closer to 10, I might feel more comfortable.Yep! See if you pay the 11 for it if they will fix the window!  It's worth a try. If not ten would be a good deal.

OH Katydid I'm so excited for ya!!! I love Honda's and 62,000 miles is nothing. My daughter bought a brand new 2004 Honda and it has been great! I have an Acura and the radio/cd reset is a must when battery's are changed. Make sure it is the right code or like Wills said it won't work

Did ya'll drive it? How does it sound..I'm sure you'll do you homework on it

Good luck sweetie and let us know, see if they'll let you drive it a day or two, ours did. Won't hurt to ask

Honda Civics come in three body styles: four-door sedan, two-door coupe, and three-door hatchback. Sedans and coupes are available in three primary trim levels: DX, LX, and EX.

Civic DX and LX are powered by a 1.7-liter four-cylinder engine rated 115 horsepower. LX adds air conditioning, power-operated controls and luxury features.

EX models get a 127-horsepower engine, body-colored power mirrors, a remote entry system, and a tilt-and-slide glass sunroof. The EX engine displaces the same 1.7 liters as the DX and LX engine, but gets a boost from Honda's excellent VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Electronic Control) system. Larger wheels and tires help put the power to the road.

A four-speed automatic transmission (0) is optional for DX, LX, and EX models, all of which come standard with a five-speed manual transmission.

Civic Si is only available as a hatchback, and the hatchback is only available as an Si. Civic Si comes with a high-output 2.0-liter i-VTEC (for variable valve timing with intelligence) engine rated 160 horsepower. Si comes with a five-speed manual and is not available with an automatic transmission.

Prices range from about ,000 for a DX to about ,000 for an LX to about ,000 for an EX to about ,000 for the Si.

So maybe you could beat him down some.

Debra, that's Justins plan!! He even wants to work on 9,890. LOL He's a tough cookie! But I'm glad he's with me on this, I'd be lost.

They don't do tinting, so I'd rather just have them peel it off and clean the window. Then we can find someone to re-tint it. It's just the rear window. I'd have them leave it and take a cut on the price, but it's so messed up its REALLY blurry to look out.

I'm SO NERVOUS!! >.<

Katie,

Re: Cd player.  They do that in newer cars.  As long as he's taken care of resetting it and can give you the code, I don't see a problem.  Honda's do run a long time.  According to Kelly Blue Book, a car in that year should have around 63,000 miles so it's right around the mileage it should be.  Check www.kbb.com and you can check if the price is too high for what you'd be getting and it being a dealer sale.  Then you'll know where to start negotiating.

Good luck sweetie!  Very excited for you.

It sounds like you are both working hard on this.  Will they let you drive it for the weekend??  I would ask.Well, I agree with everyone, can't hurt to try and get a lower price.  I mostly just wanted to say YAY!!  This is very big

We did test drive it and it's INCREDIBLY smooth. A wonderful ride, you don't feel it shift *at all* which was really weird!

I'm a bit nervous about the CarFax report.........what kind of stuff shows up on those, and what kind of things are "okay" to have on the report?

As far as I know, carfax shows if the car has had any repairs due to accidents.  That was my understanding too. I guess I was just wondering if it shows anything else. Like what, I have no idea LOL

I'm with Justin.  I like his offer.  Although they go for lots of miles, 63 is high for that price...imho

good luck

How exciting!! My son's driving my old Honda ( I think I mentioned it) It's an 2000 Accord LX and it's been a real jewel. No problems what so ever. (knock on wood) It's actually the same color you're talking about too.

My son's accident will show up on the carfax report one day I'm sure.

Sadly this has lowered the value of the car; but I planned on signing it over to him after he graduates anyway. Guess he'll just have to drive it until the wheels fall off. Course for him that might not be too much longer.

Good Luck! I'd insist they "reset" the radio code before you buy. If it's a simple fix like they say it should be easy, right?

Oh~This accident happened when he dropped his cell phone backing out of the driveway and apperantly hit the gas instead of the break. He dropped off the side of the drive way and hit out huge brick mailbox. The mailbox faired surprisingly better than the car did.

Point is; the accident has been 100% repaired and won't cause any future problems. Some accidents could though so I guess be careful. Not all accidents will interfear with the future of the car but I guess maybe it's hard to tell. I'm not sure.

GOTCHA! That's what I was trying to think of, and didn't know how to say it. But okay I get what to look for now!! Thanks Lovie!Katie, not sure what the rules are in FL., but where I live, we have been warned to look for water damage as lots of cars that were damaged by Katrina are drifting into used car dealers all over the country. Look for water marks or the smell of mildew.  Oh, and here in my state it is a law that we know who the previous owner was in case we want to talk with them.  Good Luck Katie! Katie, the cars aren't drifting in, they are showing up on car lots everywhere.  If they were drifting in, they would really have water damage wouldn't they!!  Just a play on words!

LMAO I needed that laugh, thanks!!

The interior of this car is impecable.(sp) We were so impressed with the cleanliness. This is not at a huge name brand dealers lot either, just a local guy. So it's not as if he's hired a bunch of people to clean them. In fact, we did look at two other ones, and they were not as clean. But they were 03's as well.

I'll have to post a thread in a little bit about my day at work...........Everyone just hope for me that I don't cause bodily injury to "the man in the red shirt" *evil grin*

It's always the man in the red shirt...........if you do have to cause bodily harm, we understand that you were provoked.Katie just make sure and make the sale contingent on your mechanic giving the car a clean bill of health.  It always pays to get an independent opinion on a used car

Hey, my roomate is giving me a 93 corrolla. Hey just Bought a corvette so he is happy to give it to me. It is old and dirty but it runs and drives perfectly and everything works, inlcuding the A/C.

Having him here is the best move I ever made. I took my wife out for a lobster dinner and then out for bannan splits last night and today she took me fishing!!!!!

I am happy for once. Now all I need from her is some sex!

I am so happy for you Chris.  The sex will come!  Hang in there.  I am so glad that you are seeing eachother.  WoW
