Nose Sores... | Arthritis Information

Can anyone give me any suggestions on what to use for "nose sores?" I'm assuming they are from the MTX...anything I can put in my nose to soothe the pain?
How about keeping it basic...using some cotton tips with salt water to clean them and then just using a basic soothing antiseptic type cream...see how that goes.

If they get amazingly bad probably the doctor is in order for some antibiotic cream but otherwise I would keep it simple and salt water is very healing.
Boy howdy is it ever sore!!!! I can barely rub my nose without just about coming unglued. It must be right on a nerve... You poor bugger, try the salt water/ointment combo and if it is not improving...go doctor woman. Sounds like it is on a nerve but our noses are real sensitive inside.

I am as fine as I can be, with going to the hospital tomorrow for my first Ritxuan infusion...scared, apprehensive, want to just get it done now.

Haven't been posting much as I had a tummy bug and was a bit depressed, not seriously...been there, just a bit and had no energy to post much. I have also done a lot of sleeping in the last week or so which has been a healing thing.
i have been getting sores like that since being in hospital last. the doctor took swabs and said it was staph.I use a cream called bactroban which can only be gotton on script. the ingredient is mupirocin. in case you cant get that brand there. it clears them up real fast. but as soon as I get down or get a cold they are straight back again . very painful.Lisa, need to have your doctor take a look at them.  I've not had them, so can't pass on any advice other than this.  Anytime we have sores that are that painful they need to be looked at and treated.  Lindy

Is your nose sore like when you are sick and you have needed to blow your nose to much?  Ive only expierenced that. You could try a little bit of neosporin.  When Kelsay was really sick w/ a sinus infecton and her poor little nose was soooo bad they said to keep puttin neosporin on it and it cleared it up real quick. I would also have your dr look at it though, all the meds that we are all on we cannot afford for it to get infected or anything and specally it being your nose, there are sooo many germs.

Good luck....Hope it clears up fast for you.

try  AYR gel..its  plain nasal saline gel. keeps it moist.. maybe you are not just getting sores from MTX  but possible Sjogrens as well. Nasal sores were my first symptom..Just wanted to say that I have gotten those asful nose sores for years off and on, often after or during a cold. I was told years ago by a DR. that they are a form of the Herpes virus, kind of like a cold sore in your nose. Makes sense as I have never goten a cold sore on my lip or face in my life. Now, one of the symptoms of Lupus, or UCTD is also nose and mouth sores. So, is it your Mothotrexate or the illness, who knows, I find neosporin on a Q tip helps, ouch!!

Hi there. That was almost the first thing that happened to me when I started MTX. Huge scabs! I used A&D ointment or Carmex. Whatever was closer at the time. I got it to clear up after 2 weeks. What a pain, literally. I've had allergies all my life & some severe colds, but nothing messed me up as bad as MTX. Good luck & feel better.
