Do many people have problems sleeping? I've had trouble despite medication. At night, I get shooting pains in my toe joints, and the hand joints also have shooting pains, as do the wrists. This is keeping me from sleeping.

Tramadol and Mobic aren't helping, despite having been on them for almost a month.

I have trouble sleeping and getting comfortable to go to sleep. My dr. gave me flexeril (muscle relaxer) that helps. I ran out and see her again on Thursday and hope she will give me more. It helps loosen me up and relaxes me so I can sleep. Maybe you should give your dr a call and tell him/her what's going on with you. Together, you can figure something out. Good luck.I want to be able  to make plans and not worry if i will be feeling up to them. i want to be able to work 8 hrs, than go grocery shopping right after work, and still have energy to make dinner! i want to wake up in the mornings and jump out of bed,and not have to think about taking "MY pills". I want to be in remission!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oops put this on the wrong thread

Yes, I awake the same way EVERY night.  I can almost set my clock that I will wake up about 2ish in pain and contemplate...do I take more pain meds...do I just try to sleep?  I hate this tightrope.Last night I slept three hours, even with the medicine the doctor prescribed. Miraculously I was able to teach, though I can tell it's affecting my short term memory.I too have problems.  I used to use ambien, but I stopped.  The pain in my feet and knees wake me up, I do use a "wedge" shaped pillow to prop them up, but my husband says I moan and groan in my sleep.  I hope that you get some good refreshing sleep soon.

I just started Lyrica a few weeks ago as they are thinking I may have Fibromyalgia as well as the RA now.  It has made a huge difference in the shooting types of pains I was experiencing at night and has vastly improved my length and quality of sleep.

My sleep has improved somewhat since I started taking Zoloft a couple of months ago.  The Zoloft made the insomnia worse for a couple of weeks, but I stuck it out and now sleep better.  I often take diphenhydramine (benadryl) at night as a sleep aid and also because I have allergies.  It helps me sleep a bit better and it also prevents me from waking up due to sinus congestion and wheezing.  I typically get 6 hours of sleep a night; I usually wake up around 2AM and am able to go back to sleep.  I tend to get knotted up like a pretzel when I sleep, and the 2AM awakening is due to neck, back or hip pain, or because my head is resting on one of my arms and/or hands.  No matter what I do, I cannot sleep straight.  I always end up curled up like a cat. Sleeping? What's that? I have RA!

You don't expect to be sleeping with RA, do you David? Geez, you're asking a lot.

They gave me Rozeram, which didn't work; then suggested melatonin, which I know does little more than give me a hangover; then prescribed trazodone, which didn't help and made me feel stoned the next day, but without the giggles.

But I've kept taking the trazodone and slept 8 hours last night, though I feel a bit stoned now, and still without the giggles. But hey, I'll take 8 hours over 3 hours any day.

davidvc0439331.2115162037Yep, well, one has to be grateful for what one has...  When I flare, yes, I have terrible trouble sleepig as the pain will wake me up when I move around in my sleep.

Thankfully thats pretty rare at the moment, and I've got used to being able to handle it. What I can't bear is sometimes, due to the pred, I get terribly anxious. This means sometimes I wake up in a blind panic, shaky and convinced that something is terribly wrong!

I take trazodone, but if I dont fall asleep immediately  it takes  forever.. also I wake up with  pain in my toes and hands..  sometimes mark wakes me up because I am crying. He will wake up too and  rub my joints a little and  help me relax..

Night before last I woke up with the worst charley horse in my calf ever.. it still hurts today.. I think I was lsleeping with my toes   avoiding the top sheet or something

My husband and I just bought a sleep number bed! I'm really hoping this will be a lot of help with my sleeping probelms. Sometimes are worse than others......but I've had trouble for many years now.

It hasn't been delievered yet; but I've got high hopes that this is going to make a big difference for me. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
