This is OT, but touches on some things I see posted here. I ran into a friend whose daughter just started college and wants to be a vet. For her high school exit project (new since I was in high school - you give a presentation to a panel), she compared traditional vets to holistic vets.
Her mom said the panel was so interested, they kept her for almost an hour asking questions.
A few weeks later, a woman from the panel e-mailed the daughter and thanked her for teaching them that holisitc medicine was available for pets. She said her dog had suffered for years from problems with a paw - the fur came off, and the place would get raw, and get open sores. The dog had been on tons of meds, and the vets never knew what was wrong.
She took the dog to a holistic vet, who tested it and said.....it had a gluten allergy!!! He said only one type of dog food was gluten free, or she could make her own dog food and gave her the recipe. Her dog is fine now!!!
Dogs can get gluten allergies?

Dogs and cats can get all KINDS of stuff we do. We've had (my mom and I) 2 cats with thyroid disease, one with some sort of hereditary foot fungus that doesn't go away, and I've had one with SEASONAL ASTHMA. Yeah, you read that right SEASONAL.
