I'm going to my rhuemy today & need to get some other NSAID cuz Ibup. is tearing up my stomache & Aleve only works for a day or 2.

Anyone have any experience with Mobic?

Thanks!

Lulu

I used Mobic and it was okay for me.  I had lots of problems with the NSAIDs.  I had my best luck with Vioxx.

Thaanks cristene...what do you take now instead of Viox?

Lulu

Advil.  I declined anymore NSAIDs.  I didn't think they were helping.  The mtx helps me with the stiffness and Advil with the pain; however, Advil is not cutting the mustard anymore so next week when I see the rheumy, I'm going to ask for a pain med a little stronger than Advil.  My rheumy did talk about putting me on Enbrel or Humira or Remicade so I have decided that if I try anything in addition to mtx, it will be Enbrel and then maybe I won't need any pain meds.

LULU...ON MOBIC HERE.  JUST ABOUT TRIED THEM ALL THRU THE YEARS.  WORKS OK BUT JUST HAD TO GO TO THE ER A WEEK AGO WITH BLEEDING AND DIAGNOSED STOMACH ULCER.  ON MED TO HEAL BUT DR SAYS DUE TO YEARS OF NSAIDS!!!!

YOU CAN'T WIN

Isn't aleve that same things as NSAID? Advil as well? Correct me if I'm wrong guys...but it's just not as strong as what your doctor precribes. My doctor told me I could take up to four advil at a time. That would equal the precription strength. The ones he precribes are 800mg and OTC's are 200.

I know several of them have different names but I think they are considered NSAIDS non the less.

I could be wrong.

What you need are DMARDS; like your MTX. I'm a big Humira fan. These medications slow the progression of the disease...and if they work, you won't need so much pain medication.

I was on Mobic for 2 months, stopped taking it because I ran out of the FREE samples the doc gave me....lol. But it done good for my back pain and some of my other pains. But towards the end...it kinda made my stomach feel like it was on fire when I would take it. Or it might have been me mixin' & matchin' Ibuprophen & Mobic at the same time...lol. But either way...it done better for me then Celebrex.

I would recommend it!

Hey let's start a "Recommended" post. And a "Not Recommended" post....lol. That way folks can say they recommend a certain drug and why and so on for the next post.

Whatcha' all think about that?

Thankyou all for your advice!  I have returned from the rd with prescription in hand..for Mobic!

Lovie...it is an NSAID as are all the others, Aleve, Advil etc....just stronger - she gave me a stronger stomach prescrip to go with it so hopefully it will help.  I am on week 5 of MTX ...too soon I guess to evaluate that.  She did tons of bloodwork today so......I even talked her into doing a chest xray -all these people being diagnosed with lung cancer & I smoked alot of stuff when I was younger.

My mother-in-law has it & emailed me today that she "flunked" her bloodwork again today, so they couldn't continue chemo again.  I don't know.....it sounds ominous
