How long do your flares typically last? Whats the longest and shortest you've had?

Havn't had one in a while and now I feel like this one is lasting forever! This current one I am experiencing has been over a year.

Yes, I do mean that, I consider that I have been in flare for that long.

There has been no real relief during that whole time. It has not been a good year, obviously  Well, I am new to RA, and am experiencing my first flare.  It has been going on since June 12th!  I am sick of it. I never even realized I was having a flare until my doc told me I was. I just knew I was in pain and nothing was helping for months on end. Then again, I'm fairly new to all of this. Now, I know what's happening when I do flare, but can't figure out the triggers. Extreem stress seems to bring it on, but then again I've had flares during some happy times too. Everytime is different. Fun stuff huh?! NOT. Drives me crazy sometimes trying to figure it out. [QUOTE=Cordelia]This current one I am experiencing has been over a year.

Thats what my fear is all the time like if my knee has a bunch of inflammation I think Ok this is it, its going to be like this forever ugh I cant stand that :(
It is super tough when they go on a long time. Very wearing, you get exhausted just from being in a flare.

I was in hospital with this one in the last year and nearly ended up there two more times as well.

It's not been a great year, [QUOTE=Cordelia]It is super tough when they go on a long time. Very wearing, you get exhausted just from being in a flare.

It's not been a great year,

I was in the hospital in March, b/c I had a flare and then pneumonia. Doc was affraid I was building up blood clots in my lungs.  I did not have any, but I still had to have prolonged treatment for my lungs.  Pretty easy, but I HATE nebulizers.

the flare that finally sent me to a rheumy lasted about 2 years.

I had been flaring several months before I got in, and  it took about a year to find the right meds.

Now a flare lasts about a week or so. but I have  at least  1 a month.. soooooooooooo maybe I am like Cordelia, having  cycles of flares and  no flares.. I have never been in remission, or even considered "controlled"

Yeah, I have never really been in remission either or considered 'controlled'. I am one seriously big flare in the last 12 months, has been horrible. Before that I do consider I nearly got to a place of remission or control but not quite.

Makes it tough when it's never ending.
Yes, I can relate to one big flare, I have been badly controlled for 7 years, cannot tolerate any meds, allergies or hypersensitivities are the go for me so never actually stay on anything long enough to work.  Hence I am still on pred going up and down like a yo-yo , just wish they could find something I can tolerate.  Hope yours are short and not too painful, hugs Janie.
