MRI results... | Arthritis Information

I had an MRI of my left hand about 2 wks ago. I went yesterday for the results. He said there were signs of joint erosion, but it wasn't "active." So I believe this is good.

So overall pretty good news I think! My hands/wrists and feet/ankles are still in pain, but pain I can live with. Guess I can't expect to be totally pain free. I still can't hold my little Hannah for very long, unless I'm just sitting with her- but my older kids are all a great help.

Anyway---I'm just getting ready to leave work- so I'll "see" you all Monday.

Thanks!

Glad the MRI results weren't too bad. Over time we all have errisons; and that's to be expected.

I've never taken Mobic; but over the years I've taken many prescription NSAIDS and I've found them all to be about the same. Every kindof reacts differently so you'll just have to see how it works for you. Always have something in your stomach when you take it would be my best advice.

Take care.

I'm glad to hear that your MRI results didn't show active stuff!  Hoping that the Plaquenil continues to do it's work.  I don't know about Mobic - but I sure hope it helps with your pain.  It would be wonderful if you were totally pain free.  You never know!  I'm so sorry you can't hold your sweetie for very long.  I'm glad to hear your older kids help - but I'm sure it's frustrating and saddening not to be able to hold her for long.  Sending you lots and lots of hugs.

Hi, I'm pain free , except for the bottom of my left foot after walking the beach.I'm almost there with my cocktail of drugs. everytime I try to go down from 5...mgs of preds though, I can feel 'the stiffness' in my hands. I'd so like to be off of it...oh well, my doctor says 'not to worry' about 5mgs. right now. hummmm. My next remicade in 14 days, I hope it 'holds' up until then..... What is mobic? Lynda

Hey Amylynn......don't know amyhting about mobic.  I just read your good news and I'm happy for ya.  Keep up the good work!!

Linda

Mobic preferentially inhibits COX2 but not to the same degree as Celebrex, Vioxx, etc.  In theory it should be easier on the stomach without the severe cardiovascular side-effects of the COX2 inhibitors.  I took it for about 6 months; I found it to be about the same as naproxen (both for pain/inflammation control and stomach irritation).  I went back to naproxen.  As has been mentioned by others - all NSAIDs are about equally effective, but every person reacts differently.  You've got to find one that works and that you can live with (sounds kinda like shopping for a husband!!!!).

Thanks everyone!

Jen-Yeah, pretty much a bummer I can't hold Hannah long...but we do get lots of rocking chair time in! I'm good if I'm sitting, not having to support her--she's a little chunker.

Here's a picture of her and my 7yr old....it's a "back view" though.

Ignore the date shown....it was actually taken yesterday.
