I am allergic to milk thistle although it helped my liver counts. Does anyone know of something else that supports the liver? Pip mentioned a liver flush drink made of lemon and olive oil. Anyone else? My Milk Thistle supplement contains Dandelion and Yellow Dock also so maybe just those two.Glutathione and N-acetyl cysteine are supposed to help protect the liver, though I don't know much about them. N-acetyl cysteine is used to treat acetaminophen overdosage; specifically, it prevents the liver failure that usually happens after an overdose. Coffee enemas detox the liver...I would have a professional do it!

I'd heard that about the glutathione but not the NAC. Are you pretty sure?

http://www.advance-health.com/nacetylcysteine.htmlJodi, supplements of SAM-e help with liver toxicity, but may not be a good choice with mtx.
One study (last year I believe) seemed to indicate that SAM-e could interfere with the effectiveness of the mtx. However, I do not believe anything was proved conclusively.
When I took mtx, my rheumy and pharmacist agreed that I should go from 800 mg/day to 400 mg/day of the SAM-e. After awhile, my liver enzymes did go up, so they took me off the mtx. I always felt like if I had been on my full dose of SAM-e, that wouldn't have happened, but who knows if it would have rendered the mtx useless.

I know it seems strange, but the whole lemon/olive oil drink really does work.

The docs told me what they do in the ER for liver toxicity is give glutathione pushes. Nobody mentioned the NAC. Thanks for the info.
