On the Good Side of Bad | Arthritis Information

My RD made it official today. RA's the culprit. As far as it goes, I'm on the good side of bad. He feels it's likely to be less aggressive and that I'm in the preliminary stages with a narrowing the wrist and finger joints. I'm to begin plaquenil as soon as I can get an eye exam.Well, you were very lucky to be diagnosed so quickly.  Best of luck and keep all your options open.

Sorry David, but glad you got a DX. You might have a good chance at going into remission via meds. I think I read that somewhere, that if you are in the early stages you have a good chance of going into remission via meds.

Good Luck and keep us posted

Thanks, Cordelia, and everyone else.

The diagnosis wasn't terribly traumatic as so many symptoms pointed to it already that it seemed a foregone conclusion.

Seeing my curving index fingers on the x-ray was a bit unnerving. Looked like my mother's, though not nearly as bad.

Glad that the dx wasn't too traumatising, David. Sounds like you had psyched yourself up for what was to come and prepared well.  If you have seen this disease in parent's life, it is probably in some ways easier and less of a shock.
