Stopping Methotrexate (menstruation ?) | Arthritis Information

I chart my temperature in order to monitor my menstrual cycle and my last period was fairly late (by a few weeks) and this menstrual cycle is showing odd patterns indicating some menstrual disturbances and that I may not be ovulating on time.  I was on methotrexate for almost a year, and these two menstrual disturbances occurred just as I stopped taking the medication.  My cycle was perfectly normal when I began using methotrexate though.  Just wondering if anyone else had menstrual disturbances after they stopped taking methotrexate even though their cycles were normal while they were on the medicine.

Hottie :)  I am now about 7-years post-menopausal, but it was a spectacular close with a horrifying one-in-a-lifetime vaginal bleedout after taking Vioxx for about three weeks.  (My fired primary said there was no way Vioxx could cause that).  So, I cannot answer your question and hope some other ladies in here can help you.

But what I find fascinating is that my rheumatologist was shocked when I asked when I could stop taking the MTX and he said I would be on it for life.  Through this board I am finding hints of fellows sisters like you (and brothers) that they are taken off MTX.  I don't understand the discrepancies.

MTX is one powerful drug, perhaps you will get your regular cycle back with time - good luck and we are all pulling for you in here.
