I told my rheumy that I had flu like symptoms and he told me not to start mtx until the symptoms went away.  Still have the flu symtoms, muscle aches, sore throat.   I am suspicious of my zocor to lower  cholesterol.  I have come off zocor several times over the years with muscle aches.  I did not take zocor today and I am going to see if symptoms go away.  I think I will just take slo niacin and zetia to lower cholesterol.  Anyone know of side effects from those cholesterol meds?  I know we have a higher risk of heart problems from ra so I need to control my cholesterol.  Especially since I am getting no exercise.

When you are on so many meds, how can you figure out what to start, stop, lower, raise, or flush down the toilet

KarenNTx38576.8093518519Roxy, my big book of drugs says that cholesterol meds side effects are:

Mild - stomach pain or indigestion, constipation, diarrhoea, nausea,
excessive wind, vomiting, acid reflux.
Headache, dizziness, sleeplessness or disturbed sleep, numbness, pins and
needles, altered colour vision. Increased chest or bladder infections,
cough, sore throat, sinusitis.
Mild skin rash, itching or hives.

More serious: Raised liver enzymes. Sudden vague and widespread muscle
aches, tenderness or pain, accompanied by fever and malaise. This is
called rhabdomyalgia!
Depression.

Lovely little list isn't it!
