2nd Rituxan Went So Smoothly | Arthritis Information

Today was my second Rituxan infusion in the first round of them.

Last time as many of you know I had a anaphalactic (sp?) reaction and it was debatable whether they could continue for a while but eventually they went on and I complete it fine.

Today everything went well. They got the canula in on the second try and in solidly. I was given Phenergen in my pre med this time so I slept through the whole thing pretty much as it just knocked me out. No reactions. All went smoothly and very well.

YES!!! Cordelia39344.2939467593

What are your pain levels like Cordy?   Have they settled at all?  Did you finally get some decent meds?

Glad the infusion went well

Yay! Cordy this is GREAT news.  I am so glad that you slept too.  I love phenergan!  I have some cough syrup with phen and codiene.  Love the sleep!

Let us know if your pain decreases this time.  I really think it will...I have a really good feeling about this one!

Good news, Cordy!  I am hoping to soon follow in your footsteps....Woohoo Cordelia!  How long before you know if this drug is going to work for you?

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that this med is "the one".

Hi, do you not get a pre med of an anti histamine before your infusion, I had this and had no allergic reaction at all :)

Hope you start to feel better soon it took 4 months for mine to really kick in!

I got a pre med of antihistamine - Clarantyne and Prednisone of 100mg but I still had a reaction the first infusion...I have needed the Phenergan as well so this time I got it in the pre med also. They thought what was originally in the pre med was enough but no.

As for it working, like LornaUK says, most of the other Rituxan users I have talked to say that the first round takes 3 - 4months to kick in so I don't expect anything to happen yet. I have heard that some people are quicker than that so like everything with RA it is a waiting game.

Believe me the minute anything changes, you guys will be the first to know about it as  you will hear my cheers from AU.

I am really glad your infusion went smoothly this time. Anaphalatic shock is so frightning , i had that when i had a dye injected for a heart scan, I really thought i was going to die. Luckily I too had a great medical team on hand to deal with it.

Its a worry when we go on any meds,, my rheumy nurse's mum is 80 and has been on meds for years and last month had anaphalatic shock from something she had been taking for 8 years.

Take care and hope you start to feel the effects soon

Lisa

Yeah, it is scary stuff, Pin. I am glad this drug is administered in hospital where all the medical staff and technology is on hand.
