Lori,

Thanks!  I have been more strict with my vegetarian diet.  I have cut out all the junk food that I **love** so much.  I am eating really healthy and moving around more.  Not enough, but I will get there!  I feel a lot better.

Michele...Way to go.  i'm so impressed by your commitment.  you keep me going girlfriend!

So, a quick google reveled that my prized general tso chicken with the noodles and rice they serve would have been around 1700 calories!!!!!  I ordered a salad with no fat dressing instead from the deli. Still more calories than I usually eat but I think a much better choice for a cheat!

Michele,

do you wear water shoes while doing your water aerobics?  If not try them they make a huge difference on the amount of pain your feet feel.

Also your weight loss may be slow because you are not eating enough calories  1000-1200 is low.  I'm losing weight at 1800 calories and I'm shorter than you are.  They right type of calories are important.   You need protein at every meal.  You also should be eating plenty of vegetables..lots of leafy greens are especially good because they are full of vitamins and you can eat a huge volume and not expend a lot of calories.  They have the added benefit of providing fiber.  Lean cuisines are great in a pinch but they are not really nutritionally balanced and are filled with sodium.   I'll second the recomendation for Sparkpeople.  You need to lose weight smartly not quickly depriving yourself of important nutrients by not eating enough is not the way to go.  Do you take a daily multi vitamin?  I know you stopped most of your meds but this is one I would add back in right now.  Your body needs the extra boost

buckeye39345.4687152778Thanks. I did some googling and got varied answers.  I am currently 196 pounds, 5 foot 8 inches and mostly sedentary.  I got that I need to eat anywhere between 1300 calories to 2200 calories a day!!!!!  Ok, so I agree, I am probably not eating enough.

Hello

Its great to see everyone sticking to there diets I am doing quite well on weight watchers I lost 5.2 my first week.  This diet has taught me that I did not eat enough before when I tried to lose weight. Now I know I must eat to lose go figure.

There is a great web site called the daily plate you can look up most major restaurants and get the nutrition facts for their food its a good way to keep on track and avoid eating hidden calories. After I looked up some of my favorites I soon realized I would never eat them again what I thought was a healthy alternative was hardly that don't be fooled by wraps they only look healthy.  Well good luck heres to a thinner healthier tomorrow.

Oatmeal has protein in it. To add some calories to it you can add some nuts which have protein and healthy fats in them, also add some fruit like strawberries or blue berries.

Nuts are great  for a snack as well

I hide vegetables in foods.  You can chop up carrots, celery and onion and add them to just about anything.  But try and experiment..there are lots of different types out there.

If you have a pair of crocs try wearing them in the water next time.  Shoes during water aerobics helps to prevent slipping and more importantly add cushioning between your feet and the hard bottom even without your orthotics they will help.  I know that I was hugely suprised at the difference on my feet when I started to wear them.

As mentioned before SparkPeople is a good site to visit.  The cook thing about that site is you put in your current weight (and height) and your goal weight and tell it how many calories you expect to burn due to exercise- an hour water aerobics will probably burn about 300-and they will tell you how many calories you need to eat daily.  Their sysem is set up not to go below 1200.  They will also provide you with daily menus which you can follow or not but its nice to get some ideas
