Hi All
I am new here, and just wondered if any of you can answer my question.
Just got x-ray results, and they said that there is minimal joint space, and that i need to have a review with doctor.
Last week when i seen doc, he mentioned Osteoarthritis.
I was wondering if this minimal joint space could be the start of Osteoarthritis?
Thanks
Michelle

Michelle,  I am also new on these message boards.  I have Osteoarthritis and so far have managed to live with it.  However I am losing the use of my left hand and today it is very swollen and my fingers are very painful so I am signing in here in the hope of finding others who cope with this problem.

I am sure your doctor can answer some of your questions.  My doctor has given me medication but I could not take it because it caused stomach problems.  Now I am searching for diet suggestions that may help me.

Hopefully we can both get the support we need with others on this message board.  I notice that you are in England,  where do you live? I am originally from N. Ireland and I have lived in England.  I have lived in the US for many years but visit the UK often.

Good luck with the doctor.

Hi Meg and Milly.

Thanksfor your replies, havent replied earlier as i didnt think anyone posted on here.

I have since been to the docs and he said that it is  oasteo.

Get pains in both my feet all the time, and most of the time in my legs and knees.

Thanks again

no help here. i am new at this also. i am used to pain i have fibro, have had it pretty bad for about six years. have some kind of wear and tare arthriris around my spine. now i have swelling in my right hand and an arthritis nodual on my little finger, feels like that finger will bust. i go see the doctor friday. i don't know if it's osteo or RA. i've only had it about three weeks in the hand. so i'm curious does a nodual on one swollen finger very painful, plus some swelling in the other fingers sound like osteo or RA

good luck to you all

Well, I am new here as of right now!  And had to reach out to find out more information also.  I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia over 10 years ago, when noone knew what I had since I was in excrusiating pain for weeks and after so many tests and x-rays...I was finally diagnosed and was put on Prednisone.  Somewhere along the line, after seeing another doctor, I was told that I had Poly and not Fibro because he said that Prednisone only responds well to Poly and I've been on Prednisone since then and all my docs freak out when I tell them that I've been on Prednisone for so long...but that has been the only thing that had helped me and was only on the highest of 10 mg. a day...which I thought was not much.  But now, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and since both my parents had osteo....they want to wean me off of Prednisone since my Rheumo says it's very bad for my bones and my bone density was not the greatest!  So, now the pain is back...well, it's starting and I am now the one freaking out because I DON'T want to get that pain again, that I would not wish on any living thing!  And they have given me nothing else to take for the pain???  I am very stressed out again (which of course is not good) because I feel like I am going backwards to not being able to move again and it takes such a toll on your life!  Especially since I am working and like to be very active and now can't even move.  Plus, I have now developed a "trigger finger" and my hand is very swollen and very sore!

So, for now....my Ortho wants me to get an EMG Nerve test and another MRI for my shoulders, since I cannot move or lift my arms again without horrific pain!

What to do?  Why do we have endure such pain in 2007?  Since they still don't know what to do for us or how to treat this or even where it comes from????

Very hopeful,

ET

well i have had fibro for six years. i got my blood work done today. i have very obvious arthrits in my right hand. have to wait to see what kind. have bad hayfever also and my fibro is very bad today. i was just happy i got up and made it to the doctor. i'm in good spirits considering. maybe one calls this denial. my family is concerned, they are always in denial. i'm the caretaker of the whole bunch. it threatens them when i'm sick. not that they need anything it's the way they think it should be. i'm left hand typing today. couldn't keep the morning vicoden down. it tore my dad up to see me in pain this morning he drove me around.i was wondering anyone with fibro and ra out there that has advise on treating both conditions at the same time? there are two of us old fibros with new arthritis what do we do?

This is my first time posting and I know what you mean about the pain and swelling.  I have RA and I am paralized from the chest down.  I've been on every drug you can think of for the past 18 years.  Right now I'm on Mobic and so far I'm pain free.  My hands are so deformed I can't hold a pen.

If you are new at this, eat right, drink little, take your fish oil, work hard, and take time to relax and enjoy what you have.
