Is anybody on Tramadol??? | Arthritis Information

Is it true that it is also an anti-depressant??? Went to my RD today and she put me on them. I took 2 at lunch today and I feel really good. I havent taken a vicoden since 6am. She wants me to alternate the vicoden with the tramadol.  She said that the Humira is doing its job and my RA tests came out really good but, she says I have mild fibro too!!!!  *I told her that I have overall pain daily not just in my joints and she did this test on me by pushing her fingers into my chest and back and hips and it was sore so I guess that's how she came to the conclusion that I have Fibro. What else is going to happen to this ole body!!   Tramadol increases serotonin in the brain, so some theorize that it could act like an SSRI antidepressant if taken regularly.  I don't know if any actual studies have been done to investigate this or not.  I use it occasionally for pain. I was on Tramadol for several years,  stopped, and started  taking Vicodin.  My leg pain broke thru the Tramadol and it got to the point that Tram. didn't even take the edge off the leg pain.  A combo of RA/PA/OA, PAD and fibro in my legs.    Started Lyrica and it's made a dramatic decrease in pain.  I've since gone off Vicodin and have restarted Tramadol.  Right now I'm not sure I want to stay on it because I'm very lethargic.  I had no side effects from Vicodin and I may go back on it.  My RD gave me the choice.  I'm sort of experimenting to see how I do.  I still need some type of pain management, even with Lyrica.  If I golf, walk, or do a lot of housework I need pain meds.  If I'm just putzing around the house I'm ok without them.
