Hi all, sat with a woman today who had been on Embril and methotrexate until she developed an especially nasty case of walking pneumonia. The doc didn't know for sure if there was a connection, so now that she is well, he switched her to Remicade. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks,My doctor recommends if ever I get sick or get an infection to stop taking Enbrel to let my immune system return to normal.
Our immune systems are lowered due to the drugs and it only stands to reason that bacterial and viral infections will develop. Some manifest themselves as pneumonia. They may start off as a sinus infection and then sometimes can lead to pneumonia. If you're on dmards and biologics and get an upper respiratory infection, get to the doctor and make sure they monitor you through out the process. Lindy.I HAVE HAD PNEUMONIA 2X IN THE LAST 2 1/2 YRS OF BEING DIAGNOSED 1X AT THE BEGGINING AND I WAS NOT ON TOO MANY DRUGS. AND ABOUT 6 MNTHS AGO AFTER MY 3 RD SHOT OF HUMIRA. THE DRUG BARLEY WORKED BEFORE AND NOW IT IS DOING NOTHING I AM WAITING FOR THE OKAY FOR ORCENIA. I TELL YOU ONE THING EVEN A SMALL CUT ON MY HANDS GETS TERRIBLY INFECTED AND TAKES MNTHS TO HEAL SINCE I AM ON HUMIRA. I ALSO TAKE 10 MG OF AVARA EVERY 2 DAYS PLUS PREDISONE AND PLAQUINAL AND VARIOUS OTHER STUFF.....I NOW HAVE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO MY RT LUNG SCAR TISSUE ,,,, Merry, I have problems with my cuts and bruises healing and I am on Humira also. But I am a diabetic now also. My doc says its steroid induced diabetes. You take one drug for something and take another for a side effect of the other drug. Who knows...
