A BAD day. MTX or the weather? | Arthritis Information

Took my dose of MTX yesterday and felt crummy much of the day and feel even worse today.  Yet other times on MTX day there's no problem at all.  Why?  Does this happen to you too?  Does the damp weather have anything to do with it?  I know weather affects the joints, but I feel groggy and just plain lousy, with a killer headache.  That doesn't sound like the weather to me.  I'll be moving my dose to another day so as not to mess up my weekend, but I'm still curious as to why some MTX days are fine and others are really bad.

Sometimes I have problems and sometimes I don't.  I haven't figured it out either.  I've been taking 7.5 mg of MTX for the past three months.  I always get groggy the night I take it, but then it's like a flip of the coin as to whether or not I'll feel groggy and yucky the next day.

Yeh, it's not the weather!

I am going to blame weather.  It's been raining off and on here in SWFL and we are caught inbetween all these highs and lows.  I have really been struggling trying to stay warm.  Weather has always affected me, in some way, its a trigger.

I don't notice any changes due to weather.  I don't doubt that other people do, it just doesn't seem to effect me either way.  As far as the MTX, I don't know, Some days I feel more run down than others, some days not at all.  Haven't been able to pick up a pattern though. It all seems random to me.

If I take a phenergan (prescription) at the same time as the MTX and take them both together a few hours before going to bed, and let myself sleep until I naturally wake up (no alarm for example) I seem to have no problems with the mtx at all anymore.

Just what seems to be working for me.

I can't find a pattern either and tried taking all the meds at once at bed time but that didn't work for me so I've tried taking a few during the day and the last four at bedtime, then the Leucovorin the next morning.  If I still feel crummy next time, I'll try another approach.  It's good to know at least that what I'm experiencing is not uncommon, so I wont' worry about it too much.  There's misery in company ya know.

The weather is now perfect and I'm feeling a bit better but I think it's more due to the coffee and Aleve I took than the sun, but who knows?   Thanks for the info everyone.

I tend to think sometimes it's the weather.  When I take Methotrexate, sometimes I feel light headed and I do have a dreadful headache.  Then sometimes nothing happens.  Take care.  Good Luck!  Dotti 51
