OT!!!Update on Katie!! | Arthritis Information

I just got off the phone with Katie and Justin is doing much better.  They have had to ask for a 2nd opinion regarding his surgeon and GI doc.  They feel that his first scan they took of him was not accurate and this current surgeon is at this point refusing to take out his bad gall bladder on Monday as was originally planned.  He is eating and doing everything else normally as it should be so they both really think that the gall bladder can come out and the Crohns has calmed down and the steroids are doing their job to calm it down.  It was a bumpy road for a couple of days as he had a reaction to one of his meds but everything with that is fine now.  He is also not in as much pain as before.  They were able to get him a dial up internet connection also.  That has greatly improved his spirits also.  He will be able to talk with Katie later tonight while she is at work.

Katie will most likely not be online today as she has to work the overnight shift doing the audit for work.  She was on her way home from the hospital to feed the kitties and crash out so she can be awake and functioning for the next 2 nights to do the audit work.  She will most likely be online after 11pm CST.  She is holding up very well. Just very tired and a little emotionally burned out with everything that happened.  She says "hi" to everyone and wishes everyone well.  I hope to still be awake tonight for a bit while she is at work and I will chat with her then and update if anything has changed.

Ah...the tables have turned and now your the updater and Katie is the updatee.  Thanks for keeping us posted.  Night, Katie.  Hope that recovery is speedy for Justin.  Take care and don't wear yourself out.  I know you're tired of hearing us say that.  It's the mama in all of us.

Thanks Liz, for the update on our Katie!

Katydid, you know I'm thinking 'bout ya! Get some rest, and don't forget to take care of yourself while you're taking care of Justin.  I hope the second opinion goes well and Justin is soon on the road to recovery! Take care my friend!

Love ya!

Katie, take care of yourself. It sounds like Justin is in good hands and is getting the medical attention he needs.

Thoughts and prayers are with you.

hugs, Nini

YAY WHAT A TURN AROUND!!! Justin slept all day today, while I was at home sleeping. HE NEEDED IT! He's totally in his right mind now. The anxiety meds that made him say all those silly things, threw him into a paniced frenzy the other night and so we spent all night convicing him that he needed to stay in the hospital, that no one with a knife was hiding in his room waiting to kill him, and that he hadn't been there for over a week already. Poor guy!!!!! They switch his pain meds, anxiety meds, and dropped his cortizone dosage. The transition of meds was sh*tty as hell, he was in SO much pain. But they've got him on a fententl???? patch, MS Oxycotin(sp) and Ca-lon-o-pins. How ever the hell you spell all this crap. LOL When I left him to come to work he was putzing around the computer, devouring soup and making ALL of his nurses laugh their asses off.

YAY! He talked to me some more about taking better care of himself, and I do think he's now headed in the right direction with things. Whew. What a relief! We'll find out more about his gallbladder and what not tomorrow, and I'll post more then. :)

Glad Justin is doing better.

Those fentanyl pain patches will make him sleep for sure.  I use them for pain and I find it so difficult to stay awake.
