PARASITES

Parasitic Diseases and Your Health

According to one expert, Dr. Hazel Parcells, "Make no mistake about it, worms are the most toxic agents in the human body. They are one of the primary underlying causes for diseases and are the most basic cause for a compromised immune system." Dr. Parcells believes that "85 % of adult North Americans are infected with parasites." Dr. Ross Anderson, N.D. has stated, "I believe the single most undiagnosed health challenge in the history of the human race is parasites. I realize that is a pretty brave statement, but it is based on my 20 years of experience with more than 20,000 patients." So Dr. Parcells is not alone in her opinion. Ann Louise Gittlemann, in her book, "Guess What Came to Dinner: Parasites and Your Health", writes, "After more than 18 years of dealing with patients, I am convinced that one of the main causes for the chronically poor health of the people of our age is nothing other than parasites."

The thought of harboring parasites in our body is repulsive, and with good reason. The term itself means "beside food", from the Greek, para and sitos. So a parasite is eating at your expense, and is quite possibly destroying sections of your body, in search of "proper" accomodations. More than 130 parasites are known to invade humans as hosts, and they are not only found in third-world countries. Far from it! They range in size from microscopic, single-celled protozoans, to the yard-long tapeworm.

Many experts consider parasites the missing diagnosis in the case of many chronic health problems. It is called a silent epidemic, but more information is gradually coming to light. In 1976, the U.S. Center for Disease Control(CDC) conducted the first nation-wide survey on the infestation of parasites in the entire population. The findings showed that one in every six people selected at random was hosting at least one form of parasite. Dr. Louis Parish determined that at least 8 out of 10 of his patients had a parasitic infection of some type. This led him to estimate that possibly 25% of the population of New York City could be infected. Some professionals estimate that half of all Americans will become hosts to parasites at some point in their lives.

Think about some causes for these infections:

-The widespread import of produce and other products without adequate testing.
-The increase of international travel.
-Refugees and immigrants from infected areas.
-Keeping pets in living quarters. Dogs can transmit 65 known parasites to humans, while   cats carry about 40 contagious diseases that affect people.
-Use of antibiotics and other medications and chemicals that lower immunity.
-Increasing use of day-care centers.
-The sexual "revolution".
-The popularity of exotic, ethnic restaurants with raw, undercooked, or
  otherwise unsafe imported foodstuffs.

Here's a report on cyclospora that is rather unsettling...

Parasites can do an incredible amount of damage without being the obvious cause. For example, those that live in the intestines can cause digestive problems like flatulence, constipation, or diarrhea. They can cause malnutrition by leeching nutrients from their host, resulting in fatigue, apathy, depression, poor memory and concentration. Parasites can inflame, irritate and perforate the intestinal lining, resulting in "leaky gut" and consequent food disorders, food allergies, with undigested food particles entering the blood stream and creating another whole set of challenges to the liver, kidneys, and immune system.

Parasites can settle in the joints and muscles, form cysts, and create inflammations. Often the resultant pain is attributed to arthritis. Parasites are able to travel almost anywhere in soft tissue, including the brain. They can form granulomes in the lungs, liver, uterus, and other organs. They produce toxic metabolic wastes that can attack the central nervous system. This can result in restlessness, anxiety, and depression.

Penetrating the skin, other parasites can cause rash, eczema, swelling, papular lesions, skin ulcers, or itching dermatitis.

At least one researcher and author, Dr. Hulda Clark, believes that "misplaced" intestinal flukes are a contributing factor in many cancers. Normally, only the adult stage of these flukes occurs in humans. But, in the presence of various solvents in the body, isopropyl alcohol being most prominent(a very common disinfectant, as in rubbing alcohol), the intestinal fluke can actually complete all six stages of its life cycle in its human host, taking up residence and completing its life cycle in one or more organs of the body, where cancer develops as a result. Start thinking about the number of solvents that you come into regular contact with!

Parasites in any form lead to an enormous weakening of the immune system. The widespread protozoa Giardia lamblia, believed to infect as much as 50% of the U.S. water supply(and unaffected by chlorine), reduces the secretion of immunoglobulin A and thereby depresses the smooth functioning of the immune system. The presence of parasites, on the other hand, turns on the immune response on a more-or-less continuous basis, thereby exhausting the defenses, and permitting additional secondary infections to flourish.

Many doctors are hesitant to suggest the existence of parasites, because they are so hard to detect. Random stool samples, the most widely used diagnostic technique, are unreliable. On the basis of false negatives, parasites get ruled out as the cause of disease. Furthermore, the symptoms of parasitic infection can take a considerable amount of time to become manifest, sometimes days or even months ensuing.

If, in spite of the obstacles to diagnosis, a parasitic infection is implicated, standard allopathic treatment with chemical agents may cause strong side-effects at a time when the immune response is already at its lowest.

Grapefruit seed extract(GSE) can be helpful. It has proven highly effective against a broad number of parasitic invaders. False negatives or false positives are a moot point: GSE is effective against bacteria(even drug-resistant strains), virus, yeast, fungus, mold, as well as parasites. More information about the product and its procurement are available at this link.

Another promising agent in the fight against parasites and viral infections in particular, is Olive Leaf Extract.

"(In Huaycan, Peru) ... we worked with children who had active TB, cholera, malaria, parasites, dysentery, malnutrition, and major injuries and infections.

"Within three days half of our team was in bed with fevers and dysentery. The interesting thing was that those of us who were not sick had diligently taken GSE several times a day. It did wonders for us. It's great!

"A little boy, Daniel, age six, had parasites since infancy and his stomach was huge. His appetite was almost non-existent and he had active symptoms of dysentery 2 - 3 times a year... We chose 24 children to give GSE to. We used bottled water and in 1/2 cup of water we put 30 drops of GSE. Each child took this once a day followed by 1000mg of vitamin C... You will be pleased to know that every child involved with GSE made major changes. Little Daniel's stomach became half the size it had been within 2 weeks of treatment and he was asking for more food to eat at the kitchen... In two weeks the way in which it changed peoples's lives is immeasurable."

FDA Investigator Hails GSE and Reports on Protozoa

Dr Louis Parish, M.D., as investigator for the Dept. of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service, Food and Drug Administration, reported that (grapefruit seed extract) "...is as effective as any other amoebicide now available, perhaps more effective..." and, "It does not cause side effects." Nearly 200 patients were treated for Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia by Dr Parish and his associates over a two month period. Dr. Parish went on to say, "...it (GSE) gives symptomatic relief more than any other treatment."

In his Prospectus for the FDA, Dr. Parish reported that an estimated 1/5 of the world's population is infected by protozoa, the large majority without symptoms. Parish reports that, "Protozoal infection is accepted in most parts of the world as a way of life, just as we accept the common cold." He said although protozoal infection is suffered as a matter of existence throughout most of the world, that in persons with low resistance it is destructive.

Dr. Parish went on, "It is, however, by no means limited to the tropical areas of the world. One out of four tourists to Lenningrad become infected."

Dr. Parish references how troups during wars entered areas where protozoa are endemic, making it difficult to avoid the disease. Subsequently, they could not help but bring it home. Dr. Parish believes "...it is amazing the present epidemic did not start a quarter of a century ago. Or it did and is just now being recognized."

Dr. Parish says that travel in the last 2 decades has also attracted many formerly sedentary citizens. He says, "The mobile and international society of the late 20th century has taken people to areas where they cannot avoid dangerous foods(water, salads, etc.) plus the feeling of every tourist about living like the natives only have resulted in the infections of protozoa." Emigrants from areas where the protozoa are endemic(like Vietnam or Haiti) find themselves in menial jobs where they have direct contact with food preparation, especially with uncooked foods like salads.

There are unaccounted numbers of people, in the multiples of thousands, Parish states, trying to adjust the rest of their lives to a diagnosis of colitis. He says it is likely that they have protozoa infection and can be cured. Dr. Parish closes his investigation by stating that grapefruit seed extract "can be used as a prophylactic agent for people living in or traveling to infested areas."

He Lev, thanks for the post, but once I saw worms, I quit reading.  If I had worms, I wouldn't want to know.  Ewwww.  Nasty.I want to vomit.  Ick

Awww, but what if it's true?  I know JustSayNoeMore says she has a health care professional who thinks everything is parasites etc!  I've seen this too many places to discount.

Eeeeuuuuuuu!

Pip

Actually, I saw the parasite connection on Dr. F's website. Did he do any
pooh testing on you, Pip?

Oddly, parasite cleanse diets are almost exactly like anti-candida diets.ever since i was a small child my mother regularly wormed us kids every school holidays. this has continued into my adult life and that of my children. my daughter and grandaughter have excema and i have PA. this might be true for some but i dont think it is the answer. (just my opinion).

Ally -

Maybe it's a different worm/parasite?  I just saw this horrendous opinion piece in the NY Times on worms in Africa and how peoples lives would be so much better for 50 cents a day.  I mean, pictures and all.  I didn't save it or I'd have posted it here.

GoGo -

Yep - I tested parasite free.  I'd like to point out I tested 'in the zone' on candida and negative on c pneumonia.  Both of which I have no matter what the tests say.  On the RB there were a bunch of posts on the parasite tests and about how inaccurate they were.  Like the myco tests or the Lyme tests.  That's half of our problems with these AI diseases - docs don't feel comfortable with out a piece of paper in front of them and a definitive test - and the tests SUCK.  Did I say that?  Oh, wait, I did!

Has anybody been to www.curezone.com?  I just go there occasionally and lurk.  Definitely not able to psych myself out and do that...YET!

I'm with Linncn - I just don't want to know...but if I don't know I can't get my 'cure'.  What a sissy I am.

Pip
