Do not forget to get a pap smear done before the year is out, if you have not had one this year.

Yeah... this is curtosy of my gay GYNO, who sent me a nice little reminder post card that "he" has not seen "it" in over a year now.

I could have swore... I went and saw him the beginning of the year! I am most certain I did... because he wanted to "monitor" my cyst on my left ovary that was giving problems about the same time I had a bladder infection and he sent me off to the pee-pee Dr.

See... I remember some stuff Thank you, Joonie for the medical alert!  Bah don't remind me. I missed my pap appt.........I slept through it..........I HATE paps................. My doctors office reminds me a few months before I'm actually due. That way you have time to schedule it. That might be what their doing. I like a reminder myself.Ive had enough paps done in the past 6 months for everyone.  They did so many after I got out of the hospital when I had the ruptured ovarian cyst.  Thankfully they all came back normal too.  The OB/GYNs where I used to go say to go around your birthday every year, that way you remember...Which reminds me, I have to find a new GYN cause the dr I was going to doesnt take a public aid card and I need to get another script for bc...UGGGG

That's one appt. I want to forget!!!You know Joonie, at least he's gay and not interested in assaulting you. You could be stuck with a pervert who feels you up, or worse, rapes you. Be thankful he's a good doctor.    I had a hysterectomy alittle over 2 years ago. Still need to go see my GYNO. Should have gone in June. But I keep putting it off, I know thats bad. Just seems that since July anyway, I've been to so many Drs, I just can't bring myself to go to another. Guess I better get on the phone and make my appointment.

< =text/>_popupControl(); Also ladies, even if you have had a hysterectomy, you can still get vaginal cancer (altho rare) and still need that yearly exam to make sure everything is hunky dory down there and is in good working order.  Women that have had partial hysterectomies also still need to go because of the chance of ovarian cancer.

I really wouldnt care if my gyno was gay.  As Katie said...at least he isn't a perv.  Does it really matter if your doctor is gay or not as long as they are good at what they do no matter what their speciality is?   Everyone has the right to their opinion tho I guess.  I guess I just try to accept people for who they are and not really label them.

I'm over due for this too. After age 30 when you have had 3 'clean' pap smears in a row you only have to go every 3 years.

I hate this appt

It is just something me & hubby feel that he is, because after 8 months of visits with him. Plus everyone else that had him while preggo at hubby's work felt her was too.

Just weird that if he was that he would pick GYNO as his profession.

Well, even if he was not a prev he still creeps me out. He has this look to him... that is just a little creepy. My oldest niece had him when she was preggo, and she said he creeped her out because of the way he is, and my sister... she said he was a bit strange.

joonie39352.4461342593do you really think that guys pick to be a GYN so that they can look at women's insert favorite word here all day?  Sure there are sickos out there but they are doing this as a professon and most are professional about it.

OMG!! What the hell! Are you, Katie and Liz on an attack everything I say trip?!

WHATEVER! Ya'll just bite me!

I just type what is in my head and how I think of it even if I was not posting on the message board. I am done posting.Joonie all I am doing is asking a question to something I am obviously not sure about.

There is nothing that will make a pap smear better.  Just making the appointment hurts.

< =text/>_popupControl(); LOL!!!  Karen you crack me up!!!  Well, men do have to have prostate exams so there is a small amount of justice with that.  Just a small amount tho lol.

The important thing is that we take care of our womanly parts even tho we dread it.  I have had internal exams sine I have been 12 years old due to a benign tumor on my left ovary and to this day...I still dread going in.  Everytime I hear that click of that specuulum I just cringe lol.

Now what age is "reccomended" for girls to start goin to the gyno?  I grew up being told that you start going when you start having sex and well there was NOOOO way I was gonna tell my mom I was having sex, I'd have gotten shot at

I think (I'm pretty sure) I was 17 when I had my first pap. But I was a good girl, I didn't have sex until I was 19. So I probably could have waited. I have no idea what the "reccomended" age is. There's gotta be one though!

< =text/>_popupControl(); Our primary has told us that when you become sexually active is when you should start getting internal exams.  Arielle has female problems (poor kid following in my footsteps) and has had to be on birth control to calm her cramping and periods down but he did not do an internal because she is not sexually active.

I guess like everything...it varies doctor to doctor and if you have any female problems.

Yeah I was on BC when I was around 13/14 to try to take the edge off my terrible periods. It only made them worse and I was more nauseus and dizzy and icky. GO FIGURE! But they never made me do any exams. Thank god. I probably would have choked someone. Those were some of the most horrific periods of my life. Glad that mess is over!
