I am off to see the doc in an hour. I was awake all night with excruciating pain in my big toe, it went away but came back while I was shopping in Asda. The pain is like a burning knife is being inserted into my to joint, the joint is swollen and shiney.Oh Pin, I'm so sorry you are suffering that 'big toe' ache. I've had that before and it is terrible. I'm glad you will be going in for help. Lynda

Oh no Pin it sounds like gout to me. I've had it several times and it is horriblly painful

Edited by me...left out the word time

I've never had that pain but it sounds awful! I don't know how gout feels, but it sounds like what I've always heard about it. I could also be RA showing up there, too.

Let us know when you get back from the doctor. I hope it's not serious and he can take care of it today.

Hugs, Ninit

Well ma'am, I believe we've thought you had gout before....so it wouldn't surprise me!!! GET TO THAT DOCTOR! Or I shall release the hounds! And by hounds I mean ferrets.....

No Ferretts please!!!!!............I am back from the dr. He has requested a blood test first thing tomorrow morning but thinks it could be RA in my toes flaring. I have never had this pain so bad.

Yes Katie we did think gout before but this pain was soooooooo painful, i couldnt even let the bed sheet touch my toe.

While I was at the Dr's he did a urine test and I have a urine infection too............Poop!!!

No, PEE!  I should have mentioned where that pinched nerve might be. oops! Lizzie will tell you, it's behind your knee!! Remember all her feet and toe problems?? Yep, it's from your knee! And you don't even have to have any problems with your knee to have it. So keep that in mind! [QUOTE=pin cushion]

Classic gout!  Ouch.  I've never had it, but my sister has.  She takes meds to prevent it.  I can't remember what she's on, though.
I'm on gout med and it's one very painful thing to have. My Father used to get it and try moving a 6ft plus man around when you're only 5ft 2ins tall. As long as I take that one little gout pill every morning I'm okay. Hope that they get your problem solved very shortly.
