My gallbladder is fine... | Arthritis Information

About 2-3 hours after I got home the pain only got worse. I had severe cramping and diarrhea (sorry folks). The pain was awful. I woke up this morning still in pain and called the hospital where the HIDA scan was done and they said it was definitely not normal. I called my gastro and left a message with what is happening and she called me back. She said my tests all came back normal, but was concerned about the pain.

Last summer I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain and was admitted for tests. 3 days later I was taken by ambulance to another hospital for another 5 days of testing. They never did figure out what was wrong after doing every test available. Only thing they found was some inflammation in the stomach lining, i think. I was in so much pain I dont remember most of it. Anyway today my gastro's nurse asked if I thought they were able to mimic that pain with the test yesterday and a light bulb went off. Hmmm, still a mystery...

I don't understand what you mean by that last part.

I'm real sorry they haven't clearly been able to locate your problem. I know you are in horrible pain. Hang in there.

< =text/>_popupControl(); Well I am happy that the gall bladder is in working order.  Did they take a look at your pancreas and do a blood test for your lipase level?  Danny's attacks of pancreatitis are very very painful and almost sound like what you are describing your pain is like.  Glad something is fine, Deb. You really need something to be okay.

Yes they looked at my pancreas They sent down a tiny camera into it and had a little looksee. They also tested my lipase/amalase (sp?) levels. I was out of it, but hubby kept careful notes of the tests, who ordered them and what the results were. He said There was a swarm of doctors in and out trying to figure out what was happening. Over the year, these episodes have dwindled. I don't bother going to the ER when it happens because there is nothing they can do except give pain meds which I already have. I see my gastro the beginning of Oct. I'm sure he'll want to repeat the tests since it's been over a year.

That pain is what I use as a reference for my pain level of 10. Childbirth for me was an 8.

I am feeling a bit better now, but I sure gave hubby a scare!

I am glad to hear your gallbladder is fine.  You should keep it if at all possible.

I do hope they find the problem though.

Hang in there.

Same here Deb, glad you get to keep the o'l gall bladder.  Hope they can find the source of your pain and fix it.

Deb have the Drs ever mentioned diverticulosis/itis (sp)? My mom had that and it sounded just like your pain. Glad your feeling somewhat better but this is very puzzling. What about IBS? Spastic Colon? H-Pylori bacteria? Hope you get an answer soonGlad to hear the medical tests run to date are all fine and they checked your pancreas, but that doesn't help much when you are still having so much pain.  My rheumy says that my body cavity pain is probably from inflammation of the linings, and that's the way it is.  Now when these attacks happen, I just ride them out, and don't even bother going to to the doctor.  My husband and I agreed that I won't go to the ER again unless I am either vomiting, bleeding, high fever, or not breathing.  I am starting to think I won't ever know what it is, and I just have to live with it as a condition of my disease.  Kinda of an aggressive/passive acceptance state of mind.  Good luck.  glad to hear everything came back fine.  Hopefully they find the cause of the problemI agree with Mona....my mom has that too, and it's TERRIBLE. But they have her on a medication for it, to keep it at bay. You should ask about it! It took them a while to figure out what was wrong with my mom. And would you believe that the week just before, they had told my grandmother (mom's mom) she had the same thing?!?!? I'm soooo on the lookout....I don't want it too :(

I sorry to hear of this, Deb.

Much hugs!
