OK My latest observation

I am really hopeful it will be helpful this time <<<<<<<<<<say that five times fast
I haven't noticed dark circles but I've only been on MTX for 7 weeks.  In any case, you shouldn't be relying on such indicators when it comes to your liver function.  Doesn't your rhuemy have you lined up for frequent labs?

Kidlet

Hi Roxy,

I've been on MTX for about 10 years and have never noticed dark circles under my eyes.

Kelly

Yes, I have to do the lab tests.  I just thought it was surprising that every time I take mtx, I get dark circles under my eyes.  I had an allergic reaction to mtx last time I was on it, so wondering if this is a sign that my body is not liking the mtx.  I am taking a lower dose this time.  Staying at 10mg.

Just curious, too much time on my hands

I called rheumy this morning for appt. to ask if I can go back to work half time.  I would rather ease back into it.  Fingers crossed that works out.  Full time work seems overwhelming to me right now.

Thanks Kelly.  I get dark circles when I don't sleep well.  Maybe mtx effects my sleep.  Roxy, I have noticed dark circles in the last couple of weeks, but I think it's due to being so dang tired.

Mina

Roxy...no dark circles here, but i took my MTX today @ noon & now I'm soooooooo tired

Lulu

I've been on it a long time too and wouldn't consider that a normal reaction. Other than the fact that it makes you tired and that can cause dark circles maybe?

No dark circles here.

No dark circles here...been taking it for a very long time... I  take mine on Friday and peter out on Sunday.

I have dark circles under my eyes, but it is due to sinus problems, and a broken nose.

So, if I did get dark circles while I was MTX I did not notice it...lol.

Just go buy some good concealer and that should take care of your problems....lol.

I feel like I am on a make-up fenzy again. I do not wear make-up, but every once in awhile. I just want to buy  up all the pretty colored make-up....lol. But I digress.

Joonie,  I am using concealer to conceal my dark circles and wearing long sleeves to conceal my bruises and big shirts to conceal my prednisone belly and  I may need scarves to conceal hair loss and gloves to conceal my crooked fingers and socks to cover my crooked toes and pretty soon, I may just dissapear all together

Well, I did not say for you to disappear...lol.

We will just call you the "Invisible Woman"

Are your eyes itchy?  I am prone to dark circles under my eyes and was told by a skin doctor that it is because I rub them.  I have a problem with my tear ducts and my eyes get tired and itchy easily.  Anyway he said that the skin around the eyes is very thin and when you rub them you burst little tiny capillaries which makes the eyes look dark.  I made a concerted effort to not rub them for ages and they did seem to improve.  I also use eye drops a lot.  Just a thought.....maybe the medication is drying out your eyes?

Niki

No.  I think it is from worry and lack of good sleep.  I was just curious because mtx compromises the liver and I had someone tell me that dark circles were an indicator of liver problems.  I am also paranoid about mtx, it is not exactly GOOD FOR YOUr BODY.  It is a trade off.  Thanks for the feedback.
