Sort of OT: Sick People, United... | Arthritis Information

A while back a friend told me they saw something on CBC about the
discovery of a cheap cancer remedy that shrunk tumours, but that
wouldn't be researched further because it was too cheap for any
pharmacuetical company to make any money off R&D of it (research and
development, for the abbreviation challenged). This is outrageous but
believable. I dug around a bit and discovered it was called dichloroacetate
(I wanted to be prepared in case I ever got cancer).

Well, today I found a news item about trials going ahead on it, and the
article said this:

"Michelakis said the real miracle is that a clinical trial is proceeding
without support from the pharmaceutical industry. It usually takes
millions of dollars and three years to take a drug to trial. Because DCA
has already been shown to be safe in humans with heart disease and
metabolic disorders, and because people across the world donated
0,000 to the cause, Michelakis was able to push his idea forward
within eight months."

People 1, Big Pharma 0.

I will be interested to follow this story. Whoopsie....I forgot to link the article. Here it is....
