How’s the weather? | Arthritis Information

As you may have gotten from my post yesterday, I had a bad couple of days.
I blamed it on overdoing, but even lots of rest wasn't bringing me out of it. It
had been humid, raining, changing barometric pressure for the days I felt so
bad. A friend with a disabled husband asked me if the weather effects me. It
was a real light bulb moment (duh?). Last night the weather changed,
barometric pressure settled, & presto I feel a lot better...

So the question is: Are any of you seeing a dramatic relationship between
weather/barometric pressure and how you feel?
pgrPGR, I think you said you live in the east.  I live in Ca. and there aren't that many changes, and hardly any humidity.  I don't think I have analyzed the good from the bad.  In my case, I really think I overdo, & that is a hard one for me to accept.  I do far less than before, and it is still too much at times.  I am off to play maj jongg now.(always have strength for that, although last month it was too much for me) Stay well.

Shirley Pgr,

I have definitely noticed a relation between barometric pressure and how I feel, and it started actually 10 years ago after my herniated discs. It's been really hard for me to be reconciled to the fact that sometimes it doesn't matter what I do or don't do, that the weather can make me feel so lousy and ache everywhere. I seem to get that way when there is a system coming in, and when it gets here, I'm better. And there are times when I feel like every place I have ever had tendonitis or have hurt myself (even tho' those things have resolved), it all hurts when one of those weather episodes hits. Strange. I don't like to get in a mindset that I'm waiting to hurt if I know the weather is chagning, but it helps to be aware of it, and know that it's not under your control.

Take care.

I live in a part of New Zealand with no weather extremes, temperate climate, very little humidity. I personally feel generally worse in the winter and better in the summer. I feel particularly well just now, in spring, with warm but not hot, settled weather. I actually don't mind a hot summer, as long as I don't have to be active outdoors. I do know that I could NOT tolerate humid heat though. I also find windy weather pretty sickening! Fortunately, we don't get much of that. Can't really complain about the weather at all! Can I come live there Chico?YES! Finally someone else! I joke that i am a "walking barometer". I can tell you when it's going to rain, or snow or become hot. I live in Northern Ontario Canada and therefore we have a vast array of weather. Damp, snowy winter days are the worst for me and hot, sunny days are my best days. I 100% believe my PMR responds to the weather and barometric pressure.i definitely know the weather has really bad effects on me as I can tell when there is a rain/snow storm coming...living on the Canadian East Coast it fluctuates so much, however am now down in the Carib. for the past three weeks....was great at first, then humidity seems worse than the cold, dry weather back home.  So will take whatever comes, at least I can get into hot tub and pool here.  Is better than sitting in a snowbank....I too have had problems since two disc. back ops.  way back when.  I pray each night for a cure to help us all...rose

Has anyone noticed that the pain from PMR is worse when the humidity is high?  Today in southern Ontario it was very, very humid and I had one of the worse days for pain I have had in a long time.  I am seeing a rhemy for the first time tomorrow and will ask, but I usually get better information from this forum.

I think the humidity is still somewhat related top barometric pressure... yes I notice it somewhat, althugh i am doing better overall...
