OT - I’m depressed | Arthritis Information

Hi guys

I'm sorry to come on board and moan but I'm depressed. I dont do depressed, eveyone I know takes stuff for depression but NOT ME.... NOT ME.

I'm sick of feeling sick with these drugs. Joke of it is my joints are good at the moment, only the odd twinge but the sulfa really makes me sick.

I'm very tired all the time, although to be honest (and much to hubbys annoyance), I dont rest as often as I should do. I've just come back from holiday and have been back at work for a whole week and I'm on my knees ... NOT ME

I've got a cold coming, I've got a bloody cold sore on the corner of my lip (just grew this afternoon).

I'm a clean freak (a real one, have an obsession with it), and I'm finding I cant be bothered to do my cleaning... this is upsetting.

Moan over, I'm sure I'll work my way through this... I feel like 'mini black cloud', tear soon... if I could find the energy that is.

Sarahwills, I feel for you. I always feel lethargic when depressed, too. Please
be really nice to yourself. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm glad your joints are behaving nicely. Sorry you are feeling lousy any way. Try really hard to have a restful peaceful weekend. Enjoy napping and rejuvinate yourself.

With the cold sore and all I think maybe you really are getting sick so lots of fluids and rest both body and mind.

Sorry you're feeling this way Sarah.  You should mention this to your doctor.

I get cold sores as well...hate them!!  Try abreva...it works for me

And don't worry about coming here to "moan"  noone here minds at all.

Hope you feel better soon!

Kelly

Sarah,

I'm glad you knew you could come here to vent your feelings and I hope it helped, even a little.  I can help you with one thing.  I've had cold sores since I was a child and the dermatologist gave me a prescription for acyclovir, and if you take it at the first tingle or itch, it will knock out the sore before it "blossoms."   You'll avoid a cold sore completely.  That alone would make me feel better, not having to deal with that extra aggravation.  I hope you feel better soon.  Please keep us posted.

AW Sarah, sorry you feel so lousy. I dont do depressed either but sometimes it gets you down being sick all the time and the pain is depressing too but the side effects of the meds is the worse.

Maybe the long evenings drawing in are making you feel worse. I get S.A.D. I bought an ultra violet light that I use to replica the sun. I keep it on for a little while a few times a week. My doctor has one too

Just don't worry about the house, I know easier said than done.  But like I was told it will always be there waiting for you another day.  Rest and try and enjoy the day.

Try some vit C pills.  My mom swears by them so I started taking them at the sign of a cold.  Though I probably should take them all along.

Sorry you're feeling so rotten Sarah

The acyclovor is something I will never do without, I keep it all the time and never have a full blown eruption. My GP prescribed mine years ago so yes any Dr can give it to ya.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sarah,

I'm sorry your feeling yucky..... and when your joints are doing ok??? Sucks

Hugs to you Hi Sarah, other people on the board know they need to take meds for the depression this stuff heaps upon us. I'm not there right now, but I can easily see I might need something to help me over the rough times. We can take it when we feel we need it? I think. Good luck with this and I'm sure yu will get lots of good info on posts. This is such a great board. Lots of caring, compassionate, UNDERstanding people. Lynda

You know..........as much as I embrace my panic disorder and accept it and deal with it, I still hit moments where I don't want the pills anymore I hate it all and I think that I'm being stupid for taking them. This is gonna sound nuts, but it's helped me recently. You know that most ADs also help people with chronic pain? Just in general, with general aches and everyday pains. So when I get like that "I hate my panic disorder, I don't wanna take these pills anymore" I just pretend that I'm only taking them for the RA........I know, that sounds so childish, but it WORKS. It helps me get through that rough patch, and I figure, so be it!

*hugs* Hang in there hun, we love ya!

Thanks for all your hugs and well wishes, y'all made me cry this evening.  I do take the sulfa with a meal, although eating is becoming difficult... I've lost my normal healthy appetite. Trying to find food that will settle and not give me acid (for which I'm taking meds) and is big enough to stop the nausea is proving impossible.

Re: the cold sore I got some zovirax (its the same stuff that's been mentioned) and the corner of my mouth is just red and swollen today, it really works quickly.

I wont tell you where the latest carbunkle has shown up this morning

Pity party nearly over.

Thanks again, I dont know what I'd do without you all.

Sarah- sorry to hear about your manitou, OUCH. Sounds bloody sore.Sounds like your whole system is run down. Acid is a pain, I eventually got tired of trying this and that and went to Morrisons and bought their own Ranitidine. Its been agreat life saver to me. I also swear by Asda fruit flavoured antacids. I have been on some strong prescription mes for acid and they dont work half as good as the Asda fruits.

Hope you feel better soon

Take care

Lisa

Lisa I swear the manitou has arms & legs and if it starts speaking to me I know I've got problems! hee heeI have slogged around in tracky bottoms today, nothing tight or rubbing in the area.

Re the acid, I take zantac prescription strength am and pm its a bloody fine line taking all the meds ahead of each other so that they dont upset the tum and so that you can fit in eating somewhere in between. When do you take yours?

I take the asda antacids half hour befoe i eat my main meals. I am on antibiotics at the moment and they are giving me bad acid. I get excrutiating pain in my chest and back and my jaws( even been to A&E before cause I thought i was having a heart attack) If i get the asda antacids down in time the pains go away

My manitou doesnt burn its just hanging there WAITING TO GET ME!

Oh Sara, you sound entirely miserable, dear.  I am so sorry...there has got to be something that will better sort this out.  It seems that your body is protesting something.  Do you take some Folic Acid???  Those mamouth sores can be a lack of vitamin B.

I can hear you on the depression side.  I just got up from a nap that I cried myself to sleep to get to.  I am making myself go to the grocery...believe me...I was warm in my bed and wanted to stay there.

All I can say is I love you and am sorry! Hugs to you!

Aw, sweetie, what a rough time you are having. Poor love.

You take yourself off to the doctor, if the physical stuff just isn't getting better, darl. You just sound miserable in general. And leaving the physical to get worse means one can get even more depressed.

There are a couple of antibiotics that don't give you thrush but I don't know if you have them in the UK. They are called Biaxig and Rulide. Also I am an instant thrush girl when my body sniffs an antibiotic so what my doc does is gives me a capsule called Nilstat that I take and it clears it up.

Keep posting, sweetie and let us know how you are doing.
